I phoned my insurance cimpany and they said ask the GP, altho she was adamant that i waited the 6 weeks i too was ready to drive after 2-3 weeks but she made me wait the full 6, had me over a barrel as if i had an accident and they knew that the gp had said 6 weeks i wouldn't have been covered, i'd check it out

As long as your midwife/health visitor or GP confirms that you are fit to drive and you then inform your insurance company you will be fine. My health visitor was very helpful and said that providing you can perform an emergency stop you can drive and that a good test of this is if you can crush a can with your foot.

Word to the wise though, I felt fine to drive, but having lifted my little angel in and out of the car a few times and reaching back for the seatbelt I did feel some pulling internally and probably put myself back a few weeks with discomfort. If you do decide to drive try to take it easy to begin with.

Hi, i was same as pp says, drove after 15 days. Docs and insurance company said it was my choice as long as i could do an emergence stop. Got my mum to look after lo whilst i drove round the block first and it felt great!

I didn't feel up to it until 5-6wks after cs no. 1 and about 3wks after cs no. 2 but I was afraid to drive for another week or so after that. Also, my insurance didn't cover me until after 4wks WITH a gp's note to say I was fit to drive- so check you're covered!

hiya, i had my second section on 19th July, my first section was pretty painful for ages after and i drove with that pretty soon.

this time my scar is totally fine, wouldnt even know id had a section, not sore at all. i have an appt at the hossie for somthing unrelated next thursday and im gona drive. it will be just shy of 4 weeks.

i spoke to midwife today about it and she said its fine.

im sure they still say to wait the 6weeks tho.

check with your insurance company and GP ... if yours are anything like mine they will each say to go with what the other reccomends which is no use what so ever lol

    take care

I had my section 2.5 weeks ago and recovering great after this section and feel ready to drive. ive been up and about walking etc for a week and half. I waited the 6 weeks after my last section as recovery was worse.  i would only drive when necessary for another couple of weeks as im struggling to get my lo to nursery as hubby at work.

Would you just drive...or not? Also how soon did you drive?
