i had an emergency section 3 years ago and i was out of it and dont remember much but i felt exhausted after it. i had an elective section 11 days ago and was worried about going in straight, when i was having it,it was daunting but the theatre staff were great and really reassured me, i felt no pain but i could feel a lot of tugging and touching which i couldnt feel last time round anyway the diamorphine kicked in after about 10 minutes and i felt really calm then, i have made a great recovery and was out of hospital after 2 days and doing most things around the house after4 days, it was definatly a positive birth for me after the bad one i had first time round. hth.

    Hiya

I too had an emergency c-sect after 19 hr labour with general aneasthetic and it was awful but with my second daughter and an elective c-sect i felt right as rain in a few days. Im having a 3rd c-sect in about a fortnigh(get date today at scan) as im having i.d twin girls. Im sure you will recover a lot quicker than with an emergency one.

    Good luck x

Trust me when i say that my elective section was the best experience ever, compared to an emcs it was hevan!

don't worry too much as your recovery will be a lot quicker and it will go smoothly and calmly.

id actually say an elective section is better than a vaginal birth as your not exhausted from labour or being distracted by being stiched up down there etc. the pain relief is better and you get more after care which is great.

your planned section will be so much better than your previous experience, id bet my house on it.

    good luck

I am in the exact same postion as you.  I had my dd 3 years ago by emergency c-section and as i was totally out of it and had enough i can't remember a lot of it but also had none of the build up to it.

I have been told that i have to have a planned c-section this time around and although its not for a few months yet i am also a little worried about it and know that i will be a bit panicky.  I can't help you much with feeling like this but just wanted to let you know that you are not alone xx

I have heard lots of positive stories about planned sections though, have a read of the replies on my thread 'planned c-section after emergency section.

Been told I've got to have a planned section. Am absolutley petrified. Had one with my first child but after 48hours of labour and lots of drugs it was like just please get him out and didn't even think about what was going to happen. This time though its going to be going into thearte completly normal and I think I'm really going to panick. Never felt so scared about anything in my life! Don't want a general either though as I read a story this week in a magazine about a lady who was put to sleep and could feel everything! Know this is really rare but can't help panicking about everything!! Also I want to be awake when my baby is born.

Does anyone else feel like this??

    Sorry for waffling!!
