I have heard of women having a successful hb after a section but I would be too nervous myself. I thought about telling the consultant that I wanted one though to call his bluff and see if I could get better care in hospital since they want me to go for a vbac. I want to be monitored just not constantly so am not stuck on a bed the whole time which sounds like what they expect!

asa far as i know a hb is really not recommended after a section because of the risk of scar rupture or other complications. i wouldnt put myself or my baby at risk in that situation but thats just my opinion.i wanted a vbac for my 2nd child but anyway the decision was taken out of my hands cos he was breech extended.not worth the risk imo.

Hi ladies, i had an emcs in june last year and am currently 22 weeks with my second DS. I REALLY don't like the hospitals around here and don't want to go to either of them. I was originally put as high risk in my notes due to a previous c section but nothing more has been said, i have only seen my community MW 3 times and haven't seen the consultant so really have no clue. has anyone sucessfully had a HB?! thanks. x x x x

hi i am planning a home birth after c section mainly because of the way my hospital treats VBAC women as i dont feel comfortable with the procedures they use routinely. lots of people have had successful hb after sections (though some people have not!) and if you are looking into it i recommend www.homebirth.org.uk , for a start. They have good non pushy information and have links to other sites. VBAC at home is a personal choice and there is no reason why you cant have one - AS LONG AS you feel you are INFORMED of the risks and comfortable with the information you have.
