Yes, you should be able to opt for a VBAC, (vaginal birth after Caesarean). I did, mainly because my MW told me that it as better to go into labour myself, even if it ended up being another section, (first ds was emm csection). In the end, due to my waters all breaking and ds becoming distressed and no labour starting within 16 hrs. ds2 was delivered by planned section on his EDD. Good luck.

oh my god i cant believe they gave you a section that fast my babys heart rate was dropping to 40 with every contraction then going back up and they left me in labour for 23 hours and made me ush for 2 hours before giving me a section

my reason for the c sec was due to the fact the hospital didnt belive i was in labour and was told to stop being silly and go see my gp as the pains i was having where probably down to a water infection,
After having pains for 14 hours every 2 mins i went ahead to the antnatal day unit who confirmed i was in labour but by this time my ds was under so much stress that his heart rate was dropping to below 50 after every contraction. i was told unless they delivered him there and then i would loose him,
i also had to go under for the op as they couldnt get the spinal block in my back
i would love a natural birth as i feel i was robbed of the whole experiance 1st time round.
thank you all so much for taking the time to reply you have really answered my question
thanks again
Ellen

Forgot to say that they will monitor you more closely if you decide to go for a natural birth to make sure that your scar is OK. I don't think the time between children will be a problem for you - there was just short of 2 years between my 2

I think it depends on the reason for the emergency c section. I have emergency section with dd as I did not progress past 9cm (after being in labour all day). I now have a 7 week old son who was born naturally after a 5 hour labour. I was offered an elective section but wanted to try for a natural birth and am so glad I did. I was also told that if I was induced my chances of a section were greatly increased - however I was induced and had a VBAC.
Hope everything goes well for you - am sure it will as no 2 births are the same!

if u have only had 1 previous c section u should be able to give birth naturally, altho they will want u to go straight in when it starts so they can monitor baby as there is a small risk to scar. they r unlikely to let u use a water bath as need to monitor u.
hope it all goes the way u want, i had prev c section and wanted to give birth myself but waters went at 33wks so kept in hosp with complications until they decided on c section at 36 weeks. now ill never be able to give birth naturally. but its wot was best for baby which is most important. good luck

Hi there,
not sure of the answer but would imagine that you would be encouraged to try for a vbac anyway depending on what complications you had .. I found this website, and have also emailed and had replies which were helpful (been in pain since section and was wondering about the causes) www.caesarean.org.uk hth
Congratulations on your pg!!

i have just found that im 8 wks pregnant with baby number 2
with my first i ended up with an emergancy c sec, i wont go into detail but to cut a long story short he was very disstressed and we almost lost him.
my son is just coming upto a year. I was wanting to know if after the birth i had with my son would a natural birth be out of the question? or would i be able to a least try to deliver number 2 myself? or would i not have an option and have to have an elective??
I tried to talk to my doc who told me to ask my mw, only thing is not had my booking in appointment yet and have been told due to a shortage of mw in my town it looks like i could be waiting to see my mw until im atleast 20 weeks,
no one i seem to speak to can shine some light on the subject.
Just wondered if any one here as any pearls of wisdom for me or if any one has been thru a natural birth after an emergancy c sec,
Â
there will be 18 months between my 2 children when number 2 comes along would this make a difference as to if im able to go natural or not?
Â
please help

hi hun well i had a v-birth on th 26th of may 2008 after a e-c-section may 2003 with my son, and its the bst feeling ever, i wasnt sure and right at the end i was am i doing the right thing....
well here my birth story finley was due 31st may, but on the 25th the pains started at aroud 10ish i rang the ward at about 12ish pain was getting too much so got there at 1 was told was only 2cm (omfg) and that they didnt think i was in labour it was just a water infection, and were going to put me on the ward at this point they tryed to send df home but he hide in my room, as at the point was so bad i would of killed him if he had left, so i waddle down the ward and run my self a bath get in and oh s*** i cant get out this pain is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to bad so 20 mins later i finally pull myself out stick a t-shirt on waddle up and ask df to put pj bottoms on as i can bend over and as he goes to pull them up water shoots out and i need to push now df goes running for mw and comes back with cleaner he cant find mw she then goes running off comes back with mwwho says dont be so silly your not in full labour yet, she pulls me on bed looks in beetween legs and says oh s*** dont push (finley head was there) rush me through to deliver 3 pushs no pain relife and finley was born at 4.13am 15 stichers later and at 7.30am i was sat at home. it was the best feeling in the world, i can really same i enjoyed every little bit of it.
if you have any questions private message me or put them on here i will come back to you
