Hi mrsstumpy, I had emergency section 5 weeks ago. My bleeding has only just stopped it was also on and off, sometimes really heavy. Also had good and bad days with regards the pain, sometimes feel great then get really bad pain again (still get the odd twinge). I'm only just starting to feel back to normal apart from the constipation, apparently its very common in women who have sections, I was awful at first and then also got piles (sorry if tmi) still have bad days but not half as bad as it was. Try not to force it, I started taking the Fybogel drink (orange flavour) morning and night, seemed to work for me & plenty of veg. Good luck and bear with it, it will get easier xxx

It could be that you are also doing too much, please remember that you have had major surgery and yes you will feel fine but take it easy especially if its hurting. Please speak to HV or Midwife just to make sure.

all sounds pretty similar -with regards to pain ... just take it very easy!! Bleeding seemeds to stop and start.. I found it painful to get out of bed (from lying down to sitting up) I had an emergency section too so wasn't prepared about how it would feel /affect me.. take one day at a time and grab any help offered! - Not sure what to advise as far as constipation goes - depends if you are breastfeeding... otherwise orange juice etc.. I think it takes a while for body to adjust..make sure you take painkillers if you need them - maybe chat to hv - they can do home visits if u request them especially after c section

hi all,
i am a new mum, my son will be 2 weeks on sunday,
31st aug i was rushed into threatre for emergancy section after my son's heart rate dropped, turns out there was a knot in his cord.
anyway, the first week i was fine a little stiff and sore but almost surprised by the lack of pain, i was on my feet again very quickley afterwards, but now the pain is getting bad, almost brusied like, hubby suggested it is the neves in that area starting to work again after being cut, wondering if it is normal,
also, bleeding seems to be starting and stopping, one day there will be virtually nothing there next more red blood, just wondering how long this will last,
i am also now constipated
sorry if this is TMI, but as i never had a section before, and wasn't expecting to get one this is all new to me
xxx

hey honey, does sound like your doing too much, remember to take it easy for a few weeks you will be fine. if you find at any time though that your scar is weaping then please go see your gp as it could be the start of an infection.
your bleeding will sort itself out eventually i had my baby 6 months ago and was bleeding on and off for about 4 months with my 2nd my first had sorted it's self out really quickly but it does take time but once everything starts to heal properly you'll fine the bleeding will sort it's self out...
were you proscribed codine in hospital and told to take it whilst you recover as i was given them whilst taking iron tablets and both of them cause sever constipation. if so ask your gp to proscribe you something (i took sena tablets) to help ease the problem whilst you cut down the meds... if your not on the meds then go see your gp and he will give you something to help...
just remember you've had major surgery and it will take up to 6 months for every thing to heal and go back to normal even though you should be feeling perfect within 6 weeks or less. hth
