Whether you have a c-section or a vaginal birth it is normal for it to take a while for your pre pregnancy body to return. Your uterus is a huge muscle as well as the rectus sheath which is the thick layer of mucsle that wraps around it become very streatched and laxed over 9 months so unfortunatly it is literally a deflated balloon at the mo.. Doing stomach crunching excercises will help to a degree but it all depends on your bodily make up. We are all individuals at the end of the day! Im reletively skinny and have a toned stomach (well did have) from horse riding but Im not expecting for one moment it will look the same a year my baby's birth. Try not to dwell on it too much!!

My scar was still red for about a year. It still itches occasionally now (4 years on) but it dont bother me. I think the bloated or puffy look is just a pregnancy thing in that our muscles are completely stretched for a long time. Took me ages to get my belly back down and it never went back to how it was pre pregnancy no matter how much weight i lost. Some people are lucky but most just get the mum belly.

i haven't had a section, but even after a natural birth i can honestly say that it took at least 9 months for my body to even resemble ' normal' , even after i lost the wieght my belly was still a bit more podgy and flabby! i also got the bloat, but i am not sure if this is more down to loss of muscle tone than anything else?

I had an emergency c section 11wks ago my scar is still red and raised and vey tender where the wound came unstiched. When i get up in the morning my stomach is flat but within half an hour it looks like i am bloted even if i havent eaten. Does any1 know how long until the raisedness and blotedness goes? surely it doesnt stop like that forever??? i do excerises but that doesnt help!

My belly never went down completely - its the joys of having a baby I'm afraid, my scar only stopped looking red and bumpy after I'd say a year, having another c-section in march so not too bothered at the moment - I think that we probably notice the bloated look and become aware of it whereas others don't even notice

hi there, this is my first time in this forum bit hardly been on since my dd was born 7 months ago.
I had an emergency section and my scar is still very raised and red that doesnt bother me really but my belly does I dont know how to explain it but it feels like some things havent been put back into place, if I eat anything it gets massively bloated (even snacks) i've been doing sit ups and eating healthy but nothing is helping this.
does anyone have the same problem.

Hi, I had an emergency section 2 and a half years ago now, luckily you can barely notice my scar anymore, its very white and a very thin line. (Although I still have numbness around the scar).
The big problem I have is the loose skin that has been left! I lost weight after I had my lo, but my stomach has never gone back to how it was, the skin just hangs over and it still looks like a deflated balloon!
I decided to do something about it as it was getting me down so much, I am booked in for a tummy tuck in 7 weeks I am so excited! No amount of excersise could fix it!
Unfortunately some of us are just the 'unlucky' ones and never get our pre-pregnancy body!
