I am too going to try for a vbac. I am only 7 weeks and had an emcs in August 2008. I was told shortly after the birth of my ds that I would be encouraged to try for a vbac. I think many hospitals are now trying to encourage more people to try for a vbac (if there is no medical reason for an elcs) a sections are more risky than vaginal births for mother and baby.
I am terrified about trying for a vbac after my last experience but I know it is something that I want to and need to try and do. I am very keen on trying a water birth and my hospital (Lancaster) has said that would be OK (as long as there are no complications in my pregnancy).
I am hoping to do lots of reading and have heard about vbac natal hypnotherapy cds which help you to prepare.
Good luck xxxx

hi yeah ill be going to queen alexandra in portsmouth. I do not have my appoinmtment until the 21st of this month but ill try and ask them all about there policies and the reason for the change in stance on the VBAC so you can be armed with info!! From what i understand it is manly mw lead and then it is the mw who argue your case to the consultants and try to change any stuck in the dark ages of if you have had once section you need another. They will even induce you if you need it and allow you to try a VBAC which traditionally was a no no. Hope we can swap lots of info its nice to chat to others interested in this as non of my friends care or see my opint but then again non of them have had emergency sections. xx

Hi
Am due in April and am pretty sure I am going to come up against a lot of resistance from my hospital as my first was big and very breech (hence the section, this baby was not for turning). I am looking for information on health authorities like yours where they have a positive approach towards VBAC so I can get hold of their policy information and use it to beat my consultant with when I go in to meet him in November. Are you ok to let me know what hospital you are going to?
cheers

hello
I kinda of feel brave enough to post now as im nearly 15 weeks pregnant and thought i need to start thinking pro-actively about my VBAC!!!! The hosptial i have chosen to go to seems quite proactive and they have a vbac clinic lead by midwives and are keen to push/encourage women to go for vbacs YAY!! I have a meeting with them in 3 weeks to discuss my ds emergency section in july 08. Although so far on the phone she can see no reason why i cant go for a water birth.
Vicky I will go and join the Yahoo vbac group, but does anyone else have an info/articles/books that are a valuable source of info?? I want to feel prepared and trust my body and want to know the facts so i cant be pushed around.
Thanks

Hi everyone, just wanted to pop along and say how delighted I am that this thread is still going strong and over 1000 replies now! ARE YOU WATCHING BOUNTY???
It makes me so happy to see so many of you taking charge of your own bodies and making your own birth choices. Bravo ladies.
My ds2 is now 3 months old, aahhhhh where is the time going?! He is a delightful charmer of a boy, just like his brother, and is no trouble at all. I'm now feeling fully recovered and am loving being a mummy of 2. Going for my vbac was the best decision I have ever made and I still beam with happiness when I think about my lovely labour, even with the forceps delivery. A good friend of mine is due to have her first in 3 weeks and I have told her I am actually jealous of what she is about to embark on! I cannot wait for her little one to arrive.
Dh and I have already decided to start trying for our 3rd at the end of next year and after ds2's birth my dh is now happy for the next one to be a home birth so I have lots to look forward to and will start my planning in the new year

My timekeeping (or lack of) with 2 boys isn't yet allowing me to sit down and spend as much time as I'd like on this thread but I'm glad lots of you are still reading, it's lovely to see some familiar names coming back to announce pregnancies, congrats to you all, here's wishing you happy and healthy pregnancies and wonderful birth experiences.
I just wanted to say again that the first thing anyone who is planning a vbac should do is join the yahoo vbac/hbac group, it really is an invaluable source of useful info and support.
Good luck to you all and keep posting,
Love and happiness
Vicky - Mummy to Charlie (emcs June 07) and Fraser (vbac June 10)

Well done dmcwatson!!! Many congratulations
.It is lovely to hear of vbac success stories. Do you mind me asking if there was anything in particular that helped you achieve your vbac?
Thanks,

Hello ladies,
It seems that Bounty don't want to entertain the idea of a specific VBAC/HBAC forum so I thought it might be a nice idea to have an official VBAC/HBAC thread which I will ensure remains bumped.
So I invite you all to post your experiences. Have you had a VBAC/HBAC? If so share your birth story with the rest of us. Are you considering a VBAC? It would be lovely to see some VBAC's through from ttc to birth. Any tips or good links to other sites for VBAC/HBAC ladies, post them here........
