What is PR??

i need to know how i go abou getting my fiance pr for my 2 kids.he not there dad but as we are hoping to get married next year and are already liveing 2gether as a family.i am the only parent who has pr.my kids dont see there dd and hes not in the counrty.i have been old i can get pr for my partner with out even telling my ex.but ten i as told  cant get pr for my new partner.any advise would be very great full.
