I guess a mistake in recording could mean it was recorded wrong but a birth certificate is needed to create an adoption cert so dob should not be changed for any reason that i know of. I'd ring the adoption team of your local authority and see if they can give you more info. good luck

even if a chid is taken from its parents I dont think a date of birth can be changed. 

hi im from dia and was just wondering if i could possibly ask you for some info my little sister was adopted when we were young my other sisters and i were fostered now someone has contacted us claiming to be our long lost sister and told us that the reason we couldnt find her was that her name was changed and her date of birth now i know that a change of name is normal for adopted children but has anyone ever heard of a childs date of birth being changed? obviously im a little dubious that this could be some wierd person cause changing a date of birth seems a bit strange to me i would be really grateful for any info anybody may have
