id like to recommend a brilliant book that im nearly finished.
West of the Wall by Marcia Preston... its about the Berlin Wall... a mother has to leave her one year old son with his paternal grandmother to escape to the West side, and try and get her son to the west side to safety and freedom...
the diplomats baggage i think its called cant rember who its by very funny about half way through at the moment., norman wisdoms life story a tale of a lovley man.,the wensday knitting circle sad, funny and a bit true to life.,call the midwife all about the west end midwifes just after world war 2, lesley ash story, i learnt things i did not know about her, the chocolate factory girls about 3 works in cadburys in birmingham during the war. gordon ramseys autobiography, both of sharon osbourns though dont read either of these if you get offended by bad language, anything by iris gower, micheal barrymore,
The Un domestic goddess is by sophe kinsella and it's really funny!
I've just read Heart Stopper by Joy Fielding, its a thriller type one, really good read it in 2 days!
The Un domestic goddess - very funny chick lit - read it twice and it still makes me laugh. Sorry not sure on authors name , I cant find my copy!
Anything by Louise Bagshawe, Cecelia Ahern or Adele Parks are good. Atonement is also a brilliant book!
rad?? read**
Nineteen Minutes - jodi picoult ive just finished and that gripped me, on the front it says something like; your son says the bullying was unbearable - but his revenge was murder! What would you do? yeah i liked that book
i also liked 'the kite runner' and 'a thousand splendid suns' the authers gone out my head lol
marian keyes - 'this charming man' or something was good!
oh and 'the memory keepers daughter'
and 'the road' (i call it 'the dieing world where no one has a name, lol. seriously the caractors was called 'the boy' - the son, or 'the man' the dad!! and 'the others' or something like that lol) but i enjoyed it thou, kinda made me think of the globally warmed generation! or the last humans sort of thing lol
hmmm when i think of other good ones ive rad, ill come and report, hehe! xxx

If you want something different - touching, amusing and easy to read then I'd reccomend:
The Bad Mothers Handbook - Kate Long.
A year in the lives of three women. It's a neat little read.
Mum37- I just got Burning Bright too - will probably read it after my current one.
When I need inspiration I usually read some of the Quick Reads and then find full length books by the authors I like. Just discovered John Francombe (murder/mystery in racing world) and Katherine John.
oh yes forgot her too. loved pearl earring.
i have just got burning bright to add to my 'to read' bookshelf.
Oo I like Tracy Chevalier for historical fiction - she wrote Girl with a pearl earring.
some of my fav easy reads are
anything by Maggie O'Farrell
Phillippa Gregory for historical fiction
Secret life of Demented Housewife was good
just reading Slummy mummy and that is really funny.
any books by sophie knsella are fab there is a whole set of shopaholic books the first one is called the secret dreamworld of a shopaholic and they carry on they are really really funny!!!!!!
If you like Tess Gerritsen maybe try: Karin Slaughter, Kathy Reichs.
Also Dorothy Koomson does easy read books.
How about James Patterson, the Womens Murder Club series are really good. Peter James' books are good too. Sophie Kinsella's books are great for an easy read.
Jodi Picoult books are great (see thread below 'My Sisters Keeper'), they are drama/thrillers i guess.
Also Jane Green and Katie Fforde are good for easy reading bit of 'chick lit'
xx
Hi all,
i have just joined our local library as i have read and re-read all of my books and all of my friend and families books (that i have wanted) but i struggle to find anything that grabs my attention. plus i get a bit overwhelmed with all the choice (ie cant be bothered to read the backs of them all).
i like anything really except fantasy/sci-fi. i like what i call "easy reading holiday books" ie modern romances (marian keyes etc) plus crime books like tess geritsen's. could any recommend any, not necessarily crime or romance just wanted to give examples of what i liked.
thanks in advance.
