What has happened to our Stephen King Thread.....

    Anyone around.....?

Since reading Duma Key I went back in time and read Rose Madder, Geralds Game and The Dark Half....what a blast from the past!! Fantastic.

Hope everyone is well - wish it wasn't so quiet

I hadn't been in this section of the forums before! I really like most of SK books. It was my DH that got me started on them when he first met me. I was staying round his place and just picked one up because I was bored, and I've never stopped reading them!!

I loved the Stand, and It (although the rubbish tv series did it no justice), but my favourite of his horrors is Dreamcatcher ( how awful was the film though!!). His style of writing is so addictive, I find most of his books hard to put down until they're finished.

I can't believe some of you big fans haven't read the Dark Tower series! The first four are some of my favourite books ever, and the fourth (Wizard and Glass) is the best book King has ever written by an absolute mile! The last three aren't of the same standard, but they're still good. There are loads of links to his other books throughout the series too. Definitely go and read them.

I haven't read any of his new books in the last couple of years, as I haven't heard good things about them, but I'll have to get round to them at some point.

    Hi all,

    Wow it's quiet on here!

Hi melancolymiss the book you are looking for is  CELL ... it's not written under another name, it's Kings' third most recent book and is excellent! Very scary and fast paced!!!

Well I finished Duma Key and I loved it, it really reminded me of King's writing 20 years ago, back to his old self lol! I loved it so much I have decided to go back in time and read a couple of my old favourites again, Rose Madder, The Dark Half, Geralds Game and Needful Things (loads more too but read them so long ago I think it's time to re-read them lol!)

    Hope everyone is well.

    I have a questionMelancholyMissMelly

I quite like SK but don't think I could pick a favourite. Could any of you help me out? My friend recommended a SK book but I've forgotten the name. I was saying how much I loved 28 Days Later and she said I'd probably love this book. I think it's written under a pseudonym and it's quite recent. I think it's about the apocalypse but it's not The Stand.

Woo hoo! It's nice to see there's been life on the sk fan thread since I last stopped by!!!! I have never met a fellow sk fan (don't know what's wrong with ppl)! lol! I  got lisey's story for christmas the year before last and still haven't read it.....I've tried several times but it doesn't seem to interest me! I have actually just started the dark tower series after finally purchasing the last one. I'm not really into the whole fantasy thing either but it is, so far, a good read. I'd love an update on duma key if anyone has read it yet?!

I will come by every day, cos I think it would be good to have a proper conversation about sk too!

Hiya, I'm joining you all if that is ok

I love King, my favourite  - it is hard to decide between bag of bones and the stand. Can read them over and over. i think the only one I had trouble getting into was firestarter. Don't know why, just one of those things I guess.

For those of you who like the darker ones (not that they are light-hearted at the best of times lol) have any of you read anything by James Herbert? another favourite of mine. 'others' is a good place to start. not for eth weak stomached though.

I agree! It's far too quiet here! I would love to get a few of us Stephen Kings fans together at the same time, we could have a such a fab discussion for hours and hours about his books!!!!!! Such a shame .....

I will definitely get the new book on your recommendation hun, looking forward to reading it!
