i am 23 and i am pregnant with my 3rd child and i have repeatedly been told no when asking if i can have a smear test
after i had my 1st child i was booked in for a smear (i was only 16) but the doctors closed down b4 my appt since then every doc ive asked has refused theyve said the way they see it is all my children have the same father and i was young when i had the 1st they assume that he has been my only sexual partner without even asking although he has and have said i have to wait till im 25 i am appauled at this what more can i do but keep asking for 1 i will deff demand 1 after this baby is born as i have done b4 but i doubt itll make a difference ill have to wait till im 25

yeah i was told 6-8 weeks maybe longer but my friend had hers 2weeks before mine and got hers within 7 days they told her a 2weeks wait her docs in is still in plymouth and only about 20mins away from mine in a car, so its different everywhere even in the same county lol

no it just depends on your area, mine obv has a bit of a backlog!!

hi. sorry but can i ask why you all seem to be waiting 8 weeks for your results. when i had mine the nurse said 2 weeks max and i got them back after 1 week and that was xmas time. everyone else i know have had there within 2 weeks. is this a new waiting time for results?

i was told 8 week wait
its been nearly 5 weeks so far and i havent heard yet!! i wish they would hurry up so i can stop thinking, smear test every 5 mins!!

well i have bn away on holiday and just came bk this week to find the results of my spear test sat on my door step, lets just say i am glad i went for it now, as they came bk abnormal again, so have to go for another smear in four months

Sorry - didn,t ee that previous bit. Well done on getting the test but total madness you had to go to such lengths to get one. Fingers crossed it all works out well.

ethanandkatie mummy i think that is disgusting that they asked you to come back when your 25. Makes my blood boil if i can get cc after being tested regularly every 6 months then anyone can get it. If i was you i would either call in to your drs or phone and insist on having one especially with your concerns and your family history.

my mother had full blown cervical cancer at 26, my nan died of stomach cancer and we have 2 cases of breast cancer in our family plus i has some of the sypmtons (bleeding after sex, and heavy discharge sorry tmi!)
and they still told me no! come back in 10months when you turn 25!
i think that should qualify for a bloody smear test! its postcode lottery the law states 25 but they can do them b4, just depends of your surgery!

i had my smear this morning, apprently i have a lovely cervix lol!
it didnt hurt wasnt even that uncomfy it was like 10secs max, im 24 i didnt even have to push for it they just gave it to me lol i think it depends i have good reason my older sister has an pre-cancerous cells from the age of 24yrs old so i wanted to get checked although results are taking 6-8weeks here which is stupid long time to wait imo!

not unless your willing to fight them you cant have them on request!
call your local paper and your get one like me PMSL!!

i have had regular smears since the age of 20 after the birth of my eldest son. i am on yearly ones at the moment after having two lots of laser treatments for severley abnormal cells. i dread to think what situation i would b in now if i had had to wait until 25 for my first smear. push for smears dont let them fob you off

Can you have a smear on request?? Im 21, 22 in a couple of months and have never had one thay dont do them until girls reach 25 in my area x

Yes it does hun. Smear tests are done almost on a postcode lottery
