I've heard of this before, but dont know much about it. My hair is quite strraight but i have to straighten it because it can go wavy esspecially when it rains. Would this treatment stop it going wavy when it gets wet, because if i'm out and it rains then my hair just looks horrendous lol. I know someone who had this done, she had really thick wavy hair and i know that afterwards it looked a lot thinner and really straight, but i never asked her if it stayed like it in the rain.

I have naturally curly hair - a few years ago I had it professionally chemically straightened. the results were good but not as super straight as my ghd's make my hair. Once you get root regrowth that was a prog for me as roots were curly and unruly compared to ends. I also foun it dried my hair out.
Now I am back to my beloved ghd's for easiness and quickness, I may consider havin it straightened again but I found the effects only last for a short time til the roots grew.

I've read reviews on this home straightening kit and I'm very interested in doing it.
I've got a friend who will help ..
Basically, you have to wash and dry your hair, and straighten it into the way that you want your hair to stay, then you put the developer stuff on and leave it on for 40 minutes. I've read that lots of people have developed a kink in their hair so they're not happy with the final result, but from what I can read, once the developer is on, it's changing the fabric of your hair so any movement and your hair will take on that shape if that makes sense, so I plan on putting on a film and sitting watching that whilst it's developing. Then you wash that stuff out, dry and straighten your hair again (no hotter than 200oC) then you have some other thick conditioner to restore the moisture back to your hair.
It looks like a good kit - so long as its done properly and all the instructions are followed to the letter. It can't be done on recently dyed or highlighted hair (I haven't done anything to my hair for about 2 years!) it's also best if you've had a hair cut recently to get rid of any dead ends.
The other very important thing is to do a strand test - cut off a section of your hair, coat in the developer, leave it for 40 minutes - if the hair breaks - don't go any further!!!!

Hi bubbles no it wasnt because of constant perming her hair was very dry and wirey. The hairdresser sorted it out because she came out with silky smooth and what looked like split end free hair SHE WAS VERY HAPPY and i was VERY JEALOUS!!! lol

im a hairdresser
i would go and get your hair chemically straightened its the same process as permining but allot faster !
its a thinker perm lotion that is say more like a thin cream consistancy then its constantly combed and kept dead straight then once times up its rinsed and then the next process and finished off with a good condition all the time keep ing you rhair combed straight
its permant so lasts untill its grown out re - retouching it all depends on how your hair is but you could get away with having this process done once a yr
to help your hair before you have it done stop using the straighteners
buy a excellent treatmeant conditioner you dont have to spend loads just buy the best you can afford wash your hair towel dry and put the conditioner on comb it thorugh pop a plastic cap over it if you havent got one i have used clingfilm before !! leave it on you hair so your hair is gently clipped up under the cap / make shift cap then leave on for a hr if you can do that twice a week for a few weeks and you shoudl be good to go x

My sister religously permed her hair every 6 months and it was always long and MEGA ringlet curly but she had had the same style for years. A couple of years ago she decided she wanted it dead straight but couldn be arsed to grow out the perm SO her hairdresser said about doing the chemically treated straightening treatment. It was FAB and dead dead straight, two years on it is still good and she has never as far as i am aware had it 're touch' BUT she does occasionally run ghd's thru it hth xxx

I haven't but have thought about it because my hair is horrendous without straighteners and I actually resemble Worzel Gummidge. I'm sure I read on the Boots one not to use on dyed or highlighted hair or hair that's in bad condition and this put me off as I dye my hair and obviously I don't want it all falling out! I haven't looked into having it done at the hairdresses.

hi girls i use my ghd's religiously every single day and havnt missed a day for at least 6 years but it is a pain and the rain is like the devil to me ha ha!!! n e way i was walking round boots and saw a chemical treatment to give you permenatly streight hair ive never heard of this before so ask in the hairdressers and they said they do it in there and you just need to re-touch roots every now and again! i was just wondering has n e one had this done? is it super streight like after ghds? please help x

Wow! This stuff is so good! It's Boots Permanant straightening kit - £14.99!
You have to wash you hair, dry as normal (I read reviews and people were saying best to straighten with straighteners) then put on the straightening cream, leave it for 40 minutes total inc application time - it hurts to comb your hair as the cream is thick and sticks your hair together - this cream is undoing the fabric of your hair. Then you rinse that off, dry your hair and straighten it no hotter than 200'c, the put on the neutralising cream, this is fixing your hair into it's new shape, leave that on for 10 minutes, then rinse off, wash your hair with normal shampoo and the conditioner in the box and then blow dry your hair and it's straight!! Yippee!!
Thoroughly recommend it for anyone with curly / slightly wavy hair who hates messing with straighteners every morning!
My hair was particularly annoying as the top layer is straight and the underneath layers vary from wavy to curls into ringlets, so something needed to happen!!
And - my hair doesn't grow through curly at the roots, it begins to get curly quite a way down so I might be ok. You must get your hair wet for at least 2 days after doing this otherwise it reactivates the product, I'll test it Wednesday morning when I wash it again! Oooh I can't wait!!
It is straight, with a bit of volume, so if I want it super poker straight, then I'll run over it with the straighteners, but it's nice to know that i don't have to rely on them now!
