Hiya I'm a makeup artist and its generally cover areas that need it most (like your redness and any spots) there is no need to completely cover your face just blend it in with a sponge or foundation brush or your fingers. If you think you are a little shiny then dot over some powder with a powder pad or a powder brush. Hope this helps.

I very very rarely wear foundation, but when i do i never put powder under it. I don't know if there's a right or wrong way of doing it. Just whatever suits you best i think.

hi gals ok here goes ive always worn foundation and powder scince school and back in the days where we shared makeup tips and didnt really know what we were doing any way it always looks nice when i apply it but after a few hours it looks weirred any way i was in a rush the other day and didnt have time to put powder on so had to make do and i looked fab my skin glowed etc.. and my face didnt feel caked have i been doing wrong for years and years then can you just wear the foundation on its own? i feel really thick asking this so i thought i would ask it where i can hide my redness x

No, there is no need to wear powder, especilly if you look better without it! lol! If you're worried about being too shiney you can get mattifying moisturisers and foundations now, that'll give more of a matt look. hth!
