Hi
I looked into getting a prenatal massage too and was warned that specific oils would have to be used as certain oils are unsafe to use during pregnancy.
Just thought I'd mention it as it might add weight to your complaint-if they can't get a simple booking right how can you be expected to trust them with knowing their stuff?
Hope you manage to get a better response from them-at the very least a refund for the treatment.x

I asked the Spa for a refund and they said it was the Spabreaks.com sites fault, and I asked Spabreaks.com for a refund and they said it was Oldthorns Spa's fault. Both have said there's nothing more they can do.
I'm wondering if its something I can complain to trading standards about....

Thanks Carrie for your response, to add insult to injury both Spa and website I booked through are claiming that it was a prenatal massage and that I just didnt like it.
Both are saying "I dont know what else we can do other than appologize".
I dont know if its something I can report to Trading Standards, particularly since the first thing the massuse said to me is "I can't give you a proper massage as you're pregnant". That to me sounds like false advertising, if its prenatal my pregnancy shouldn't have been an issue!

I don't blame you for being annoyed - I would have been furious!!! Someone, somewhere should be giving you a refund. Especially as there's not much available for pregnant women.
I've seen a funny chair thing in my local salon, which you kind of lean forward onto - they told me that's for pre-natal massage. I can't believe a fancy spa wouldn't have one of those.
Good luck x

Hello everyone,
This is my first time to post anything on the Forum, I’m 23 weeks and 3days pregnant with my first baby, just feel a need to vent this on the forum:
Last month I decided to book a weekend away for my husband and myself at a Spa, I wanted a Spa that did special treatments for pregnant women.
I found this website Spabreaks.com and called up one of their sales ladies and explained budget, and that I really wanted a Prenatal treatment. She came back to be with a Spa/Hotel and Golf course called Old Thorns which was slightly over budget but they had a Prentatal treatment so as I was having difficulty finding something I decided to book it (about a month in advance).
Anyway so last weekend we went to Old Thorns and when I was about to have my treatment the massuese said to me that there was going to be difficulty giving me the massage and that she’d have to find a way to massage me. At this point I was very confused as I had thought I was getting something SPECIFICLY for a pregnant woman so silly me for thinking me being pregnant would be an issue!
I pointed this out to her and showed her my booking which said Pre-Natal Massage she agreed almost to say "well can’t argue with that" and we went to do the massage.
During the massage, I was sitting with one hand holding my towel over my cheast and the other leaning, propping myself up to balance so that I wouldn’t fall head first. Sound relaxing? No it wasn’t! This whole time I was thinking "is this really the only way??"
Anyway confused about what it was I ordered, I thought maybe that was how prenatal massages were meant to be.
Once I left the Spa and went back home I decided to look up what a Prenatal massage looked like - and surely enough it was NOTHING like what I received! You are meant to be lying on your side, with something propping your stomache and theres the same sense of being so relaxed you could fall asleep.
It seemed that what had been done for me was a regular massage adapted for a pregnant women in the moment.
Confused, I called up SpaBreaks who did the booking, but was assured that what they booked for me was something specifically prenatal as opposed to be something that was adapted. They said they could do nothing for me UNLESS I call Oldthorns myself and complain to them aswell. Surely enough I called OldThorns stated my case and was shocked to find out infact there IS NO Prenatal Massage and the prenatal treatment is a completely different treatment with an added extra 25 minutes and at a price of £10 more than what was booked for me. They then blamed Spabreaks for not informing me that this was not the treatment I was getting and that Spabreaks should be held responsible for booking the incorrect treatment.
Now Im stuck in the middle of this VERY unproffessional blame game of whos fault is it anyway? Had I known that I was getting a regular treatment that was being adapted in the moment I would not have booked that Spa, what frustrates me the most is in order to have gotten the prenatal treatment all I needed to do was pay an extra £10 which considering I already went over budget would not have been an issue. No one mentioned there was another treatment at Old Thorns Im guessing because they would have had to move other clients to a later time as it was an extra 25mins.
Im writing this not JUST to vent but for future reference to anyone wanting to book a massage to relax.

omg i do not blame u for being annoyed and complaining,
when we went to turkey we looked into gahving a turkish bath wen i went down i explaind i was pregant and he told me a prenatal massage could be done it was wonderfull i was lied on my side and i was in so much comfort i nearly fell asleep i hope u get szum were with them they shoukd offer u a refund hun xx
