Is there a reason i get awful looks from other mothers to be all the time?

I am only 20 and throughout my pregnancy have still worn what i wanted to. Usually maternity skinny jeans and band t-shirts and have bright pink dyed hair

Dont worry the dye i use is a non permanent vegan and totally chemical free dye so cant harm baby. yet i get looked at like i might be spawning the devil!

I think its totally ridiculous!

Any other mums getting the same feeling?

@ loumatt - hey there.  Glad you like the dreads.  I make them myself but the one's i'm wearing in my avatar are from a lovely girl called Kellye who trades through www.thecutealternative.co.uk

I'd also recommend going on www.thehairextensionsforum.com as there are loads of lovely girls on there who make and sell dreads and loads of galleries to look at different styles

Message me if you have anymore questions - i can get some better pics of mine for you to look at if you like

    good luck!

I have had to take out most of my piercings to as they were not all fully healed and i didn't want to risk infection, my family keep telling me i should change my 'look' so my child doesn't think this is normal!!! me and my oh also have body mods and get funny looks alot so i am worried people will judge me as a parent based on it but hey ho its what my little boy will think of me that matters.

I used stargazer as they are safe but now i have roots and it looks funny lol can't wait till i can bleach it again

Scarletlady- where do you get your dreads i love the look of them and have been thinking of trying them?

like fenwick1 says i'm sooo glad there are ither 'alternative' mums!

i ended up taaking out most of my facial piercings as i started feeling really insecure about the way i looked (we live in surrey and unfortunatley people seem to be a bit snobby round here )

gave a lot of people a shock when they saw my bump as i have tattoo's going up my waist on either side (which didn't get ruined at all by my expanding bump lol)

i think people expect really chavvy parents but i don't think people know what to expect when they see mum's in clothes from brands as criminal damge, punky fish, band stuff etc

proed to say my daughter calms down when listening to marilyn manson and taking back sunday

So good to hear from other 'alternative' mums!

Only 11 weeks but I'm getting an idea about what you're talking about. I have skinhead feather cut and my boyfriend's a punk with a tattooed face so we got some interesting looks in Mothercare the other day!

Any suggestions for remotely interesting maternity clothes, or do I have to resign myself to leggings and my boyfriend's band Tshirts for the next 6 months?!

Ignore the looks ladies, a lot of them proberbly stem from jelousy anyway, as its so easy to lose your induviduality when you become a mum and just get bogged down in nappies, bottle and puke! I think you look fab!

I'd just do a strand test to find out - i don't bleach my hair but I'm a dark blond.  I also know that pregnancy hormones change your hair anyway so it doesn't take dye like it normally does - that's why they always recommend strand tests!
