places myt b different then coz in my church our vicar takes care of everything on the day not the registrar.

In Ireland the registrar doesn't go to a wedding in a RC church? The Priest deals with the marriage certificate. Its signed in the chapel then the Priest takes it? Not sure where it goes after that but we then picked it up at the registry after our honeymoon.

You need to book the registrar asap as you need them to be present at the wedding (they deal with the marriage certificate etc) - the longer you leave the less likely you are to find a registrar available in your district to attend the wedding which unfortunately means no wedding on your planned date!

Thats weird. In Ireland you go see the priest & they arrange everything- a registrar was never mentioned, although he did get us to sign paperwork for the 'legal' part of the service. But we never met with or went to a registry? It must be different in England?

I'm gettin married in church as well (methodist) and our vicar did explain it 2 b honest i can't remember wot he said but its a long story. But wot he said is they don't read banns at the church i have to gv notice at the registrar office which they r goin 2 put up for every1 to c and object if they want then afta 2/3 weeks they take it down and we get the certificate or notice woteva u call it and thats when we have 2 let him know that we got it and he needs 2 c it then he can marry us next year in June. But we r goin 2 gv notice next year around January

sept 09 we're getting married in a RC church......... was told by registry office ive got to book an appt with less than a year to go to go see them......... why?? i know we have to give notice but i dont really know what that is..........then i got asked by someone do i have to book a registrar as im getting married in a church......... then i thought maybe that is why we gotta go to reg. office

im making myself all confused!!

please help and explain it to me!!!!!
