aww hun, i had a cheap wedding and i can honnestly say im glad we did, as getting married is kinda like xmas... you look forward to it so much, you over spend... then the day comes and goes.. and you cant believe what you spent your money on lol..

the actual wedding day is over so quickly, and then thats it... you kinda get wedding blues as youve spent months planning and then nothing to plan for...

but im glad we got married and no debt.. i have friends who are still paying off their weddings and theyve been married 3+ years lol..

the wedding is all about you, when i got married in reg office i didnt look at anyone at all i was just looking at dh, it wouldnt have mattered if anyone else was there. so im glad i didnt have a huge wedding with everyone there, as it owuldnt have mattered i wouldnt have noticed them anyway lol...

sit down with your dp and ask him why he wants a huge wedding.... and go from there xx

oh hun, im getting married on the 4th oct aswell, so to tell everyone its off so close to the date must have been awful.

Does he know deep down that you cant afford the big way?? have you looked into the prices of doing something diff like what he would want - if you have the reg booked for that date - look at prices of going back to hotel for a sit down meal and evening, or just hire a hall and see how much caterers would cost?? this would then at least give him an idea.

we have booked a hotel package - room for ceremony, sit down meal for up to 40 and evening room with buffett for up to 80, total cost 3200. We have to pay 263 to the reg for coming to hotel and then you have decorations (balloons) and dj etc on top probably another 300 quid for both of them. just to give you an idea.

i dont know what else to suggest hun. (((BIG HUGS)))

hi ladies, hope you dont mind me posting but really need to have a rant. me and my df are ment to be getting married on 4th october 2008 which is about 7 weeks away, the thing is we really dont have the money for a big wedding and probablly never will, so we decided that we would have a very small wedding, get married at the registary office then a meal at a resturant with our family and close friends. now though my partner doesnt want to do it this way and really wants to have a big wedding with all the tr*** iykwim, all though i would like the big wedding i know that we really cant afford anything other than the way we had planned it, i also really believe that as long as me and df are there to get married thats all that matters. i have now had to go round and tell everybody that the wedding is off and i am really upset about this, i have told all my family and friends that its off and the reason why but the only person df has told is his mum and he told her that the registrary office double booked us   i really dont understand why he has changed his mind like this so close to the wedding or why he feels the need to lie about the reason.

sorry that this was so long but really needed to have a rant. good luck to all of you that have your weddings coming up and to those that are still busy with planning hope everything goes to plan for you all.

    love xara
