I had to get copies of both mine and dh's birth certificate (cost £7 each) as I knew that I had lost mine years ago as I never found it since, and we turned the house upside down to find dh's and we couldn't which was annoying because I knew I had seen it recently.  There was only a week before our giving notice appointment and I was panickng a bit that the copies would't get here in time but they did.  Also had to get a copy of a death certificate for dh's previous wife.  We each took our passports (prove we were british) and a bank statement (to show where we lived).

Last week we found dh's birth certificate that we turned the house upside down for, so now we have two copies. lol

All the bills are in my DF's name too but my name does appear on the council tax and mortgage  so your DF's should be on the council tax form x
