Hi all, I am new here and have recently had my fifth child. I had natural deliveries with all but my last baby was big, with a huge head and went back to back. I had a 2nd degree tear but it went no where near my butty. My pelvic floor was non-existent after having her nearly 5 weeks ago. I have had no urinary incontinence but cannot hold it for long. But I did pooh myself a few days after having her and was mortified. Like the others I am not old (34). I have been doing my pelvic floor for the first few weeks and it has improved feeling. I can control farts a tiny bit but not for long. I always have to rush to the loo or I feel I will pooh myself. Has anyone been cured by just doing pelvic floor exercises? Someone mentioned the Athena pelvic floor toner - have they helped with bowel problems or only urinary? I found this booklet that might be useful http://www.incontact.org/pdf/Bowel%20booklet.pdf and http://www.digestivedisorders.org.uk/content/pdfs/Bowelcontroldownloadable.pdf

The problem now is in my area now they are moving all the clincs around so that one thing is on one site so they don't do 1 tretment at more than 1 hospital so you end up going to lots of different hospitals. Hope you are well and get your appointment soon.

DP has been taking me to my appointments so upto now it has been ok, I am waiting on my ultrasound appointment at Warrington Hospital.  Then I am guessing back to my consultant at Runcorn Hospital, so I am hoping that whatever treatment I am going to have to have I can have it done in a Liverpool Hospital.  Dont want to have to get DP to take me all the time.  I am going to have to say this to my consultant.

Hi I had the ultrasound done at the same time as pressure so wasn't to bad as everything was done in one go. My treatment has been over 3 hospitals and I don't drive so it is a pain. Hope you get a date soon.

I have had the pressure test and also they tested my muscles and nerves, my outer muscles are not very strong.  I am still waiting on my ultrasound appointment.  I am hoping it wont be much longer.  WHatever treatment I need I am hoping I can get it here in Liverpool cos I am unable to travel to Runcorn or anywhere else I can not drive.

Hi Im back nice to see a few more people join us. I went to Cornwal so not got a tan. We have decided to carry on trying for another baby so I have got to ring the hospital and tell them I don't want the treatment just now. Has any of the new people had this treatment and does it work? I have put the name further down they put a injection in your foot and it works your bum?

Hope your test went ok. Also hope you appointments come throught fast.

    hiya

thank you for your reassuring answer!! You would think that after childbirth a few little tests that may hurt are going to be a walk in the park. I still think i would rather go through child birth than go to the dentist!!!!!!!!!

my appt is at 2.20....seems a lifetime away.

    thanks again xx

    Hi there,

No - the ultrasound doesn’t hurt at all. Quite similar to the pressure tests. I had to lie on my stomach with a sheet over the lower half of my body. They put a condom over the end of the camera bit and you can just feel they moving side to side etc. I gritted my teeth and it was over before I knew it.

They told me there and then what the results were too, so was quite helpful. I had damage to the internal and external sphinter muscles all the way along.

I too had the surgery straight after birth and after this last lot of surgery am beginning to think I must look like a patchwork quit down there - lovely!!

    Good luck tomorrow,

    xxxx

    Hello

Hope you dont mind me intruding on this conversation but it has been a great help!!! I had 4th degree tearing to the anal spinchter when i had my lo and needed surgery straight after giving birth.

I had the pressure tests done on monday and have been called for an ultrasound tomorrow. Does it hurt? Or should i say is it any worse than the pressure tests?

    Thanx

    Anna x

    Hi Ladies,

Hope you don't mind me joining your conversation, but I know exactly how you feel. I had my son nearly 18 months ago (had a third degree tear) and have suffered with the same problems as you. I have just had an anal sphinter op (about a week and a half ago) and am praying that it will do the job.  xxxx
