Glad your mw had a look. You will eat sleep & drink pf excecises. I was told to think I wanted a poo then try and stop my self  but put all my mind on my bum. but dont do it to hard so that I am working just my bum and not all the cheaks as well. Hope you get on ok over the next 6 weeks.

    thanks for your reply Kaz.

i got the midwide to have a look  and she said:

swelling is haemorroids (sp) have now got some cream for this

lots and lots of pf excercises - she said the deeper i can pull and hold for the more of the back muscles are included in the "work-out"

she said it will take 6 weeks for hormones inc relaxin to stop totally so if there is still an obvious issue after 6 wks then i'll  get looked at again.

    xxx

    Congratulations on your birth

Now onto your bum. It has been through a lot so it may take a few weeks for all the swelling to go down. You can ask your midwife or HV to have a look when she looks at your stitches. If you find that things are not getting better then go to your docs and ask them to send you for some physio. The sooner the better as it can take a long time. My ds is 2 1/2 years and i am still not sorted but some people only need a few physio sessions.

    Take care.

    Hey ladies

I had my little boy 6 days ago and had to have an epesiotomy (sp). Due to the stictches (2nd degree), bruising and post-birth bleeding, I hadn't really thought twice about what was going on down there but now that the bruising and bleeding are going away I am aware that thereis defo another problem.

I noticed earlier in the week that I was unable to control passing wind and today I literally pooed myself (at home but still mortified) as didn't get to toilet on time.

I had a look in the mirror and can see that a section of my "bum hole" () has a couple of big  swellings (not sure how else to describe)...Also whilst inspecting myself in the mirror tried to do some "anal contractions" and couldn't see any muscle movement!

WHAT THE F IS GOING ON???

    HELP PLEASE!!!

Minnersues glad your ultra sound went ok, its not that bad but I know its not nice people playing with your bum. Are they going to use the bio feedback or just control exercises?

Hi to the 2 new people and congratulations on you new babies. I started this a long time ago now as there was nothing for people with bowel weakness just bladder. As you may have read back I have decided to put off treatment as ttc another baby but now going throught tests to try and see why not pg. Not known anybody who have got back to normal with just physio but sure some people do.

Take care to you all x

Had my ultrasound and everything is ok, so my consultant is referring me for physio as nothing internal is wrong with me.

hi I'm another newbie - had lo almost 5 weeks ago.  Third degree tears with forceps.   (I saw consultant at 3 weeks and they did ultra sound said everything looks like it's healing well inside - and I should be able to have natural birth next time!) Early days, so I'm mostly at home at the moment.  Reading this thread has made me feel much better, like others have said - it's not something anyone warned us about! I was too embaressed even to tell my mum or sister! People are so critical and the way people talk about pelvic floor muscles it's like it's your own fault if they're not strong! So since reading this I'm not feeling like such a wimp! Thanks!

Hi all, I am new here and have recently had my fifth child. I had natural deliveries with all but my last baby was big, with a huge head and went back to back. I had a 2nd degree tear but it went no where near my butty. My pelvic floor was non-existent after having her nearly 5 weeks ago. I have had no urinary incontinence but cannot hold it for long. But I did pooh myself a few days after having her and was mortified. Like the others I am not old (34). I have been doing my pelvic floor for the first few weeks and it has improved feeling. I can control farts a tiny bit but not for long. I always have to rush to the loo or I feel I will pooh myself. Has anyone been cured by just doing pelvic floor exercises? Someone mentioned the Athena pelvic floor toner - have they helped with bowel problems or only urinary? I found this booklet that might be useful http://www.incontact.org/pdf/Bowel%20booklet.pdf and http://www.digestivedisorders.org.uk/content/pdfs/Bowelcontroldownloadable.pdf
