Saw my consultant yesterday, he wants me to come back for the camara examination next Tuesday. Can't believe how quick it is all moving, thats 2 weeks from going to see GP to having the camara thing at the hospital!

Good luck to you both with your apointments. I come under Nottingham QMC & City hospital so it must be them who are dead slow.

the hospital phoned me yesterday and said that my consultant is on holiday the day of my appointment and he wants to see me hiself so they have brought it forward a week, i'm glad to get it moving but am not looking forward to being prodded around at x

it must depend on the area you live in on how long you have to wait to get an appointment, mine is next tuesday and I am excited and nervous.

Glad you are getting things moving. You are lucky to get an appointment fast. I had my ds in March 06 and still waiting to get things sorted had a camera and pressure tests after physio didn't work but now got to wait until June to see surgen again. Good luck

Hi Girls, I'm new here. Never really bothered looking on here as I had bowel problems rather than bladder, its reassuring to see there are others out there! I had my ds in April 06 and have had problems since. Been to my GP a couple of times but don't think now I was being assertive enough. Finally last Tuesday I went again and made it quite clear that I can not carry on like this hoping everything will come right by it's self because after nearly 2 years it's not going to! He said he was going to refer me to a specialist at the hospital. The hospital phoned me this morning with an appointment for Wednesday, scared now!

Glad your appointments have come through so fast just hoped mine wouldn't take so long. Still not manage to ring the hospital as got stuch at work an hour after my time so not happy. Will try again but don't think they will change it.

got my consultant appointment for 18th march, i cant believe ive got to go through all this, you expect childbirth to be bad but not to be suffering like this after so long

got my first appointment through for the 4th March I am hoping it does not take 2yrs before I find out what is wrong with me, due back to work in M ay and I am worried to go back.

Hi how are we doing today I am going to try and ring the hospital and see why my appointment has been put back another month. It has been 2 years from when I first told the docs about my prob you would thing they would want to get things sorted and not let things get worse by letting it go on for so long. I would have been waiting 2 years 3 months by the time I go back and see him and he still may not do anything when I do.
Is there anybody who has had their bowel problem sorted when physio hasn't worked and how long did it take to get things sorted?

I dont think there is enough information out there about bowel weakness. You can pick up leaflet after leaflet about bladder weakness and all the pregnancy books are the same. I cannot remember reading anywhere about bowel weakness apart from doing a detailed search on the internet after I had my first child and noticed things were not returning to normal. I approached this subject with my health visitor and she agreed with me.
Apparently assisted deliveries are normally to blame for this damage but nobody tells you about it. I know that they have to use forceps/ventous but you should be aware of the possibilities of damage to the bowel so at least you feel better about approaching professionals about this. It took me 3 years before I spoke to anybody. I just kept thinking it would get better.
Anyway sorry to waffle on but it is good to be able to chat to ladies in the same position as it is such a taboo subject.

Forgot to say to Kerryplu, there is such a thing as a 4th degree tear but it is rare and not as common as 2nd and 3rd. 'A fourth degree tear goes through the perenium and muscles and extends down into the anal sphincter and the underlying muscles'. As if childbirth itself is not bad enough!!!

My ds is 9months and i am still waiting for my surgery appt as i too was stitched very badly and have a massive lump of scar tissue instead of a perenium!! I have had to go see a gynae consultant, a bowel surgeon and referred to Oxford for loads of tests. I am due back to work next month after nearly a year off and feel like i havent recovered from giving birth yet!
Reading here it seems that these things are all to commonly occuring in our understaffed maternity units!!!

Glad it went ok. Did they do anything when you was there? Why can't they sort you at that hospital? Hope it wasn't to bad.
