I feel quite cheated!!!! lol I had my TOT done in April and today was my follow up appointment (yep after 4 months I think I would have been intouch if anything had of been wrong!!!) anyway I sat in this little room for 40 minutes and in the end I went and complained because I was just left sitiing there. The doctor came in, said is everything ok and I said yes and she said ok we'll discharge you then and that was it!!! I waited all that time for about 30 seconds!!! They didn't even examine me!!!! Complete waste of time!!!

Aww sorry to hear that when I had my urodynamics it was a breeze, honestly. Maybe the person doing it wasn't as experienced or something? I had the feeling of wanting to go loo all the time for a few hours but they told me to expect that. It soon went away. xxxxx

had my urodynamics today and OMG it stung like a mofo felt like i had cystitis for 2 hours afterwards!

i have no idea how that could possibly be accurate when it hurt so much, but ho hum!

just read your thread and I had the TOT not the TVT so might be slightly different but lease don't worry hon, the urodynamics were actually quite a laugh, I had 2 lovely nurses that just made me laugh an awful lot. The art of distraction is really good!! And the op was so not worth worrying about. I am having a gastrophy or something in 2 weeks (Camera down throat) and as DH is working I cant have the sedative as I have to drive so I am pooing myself - I'd sooner have this done again any day!!! xxxx

Hiya Gemsy, Hows Lissy doing?? After a few weeks you will be fine to do everyday things honest, you jsut need to not go to the gym, lift heavy stuff so avoid lifting Lissy ask her to climb on your lap for a cuddle. this is so the mesh stuff they put in gets a proper chance to bind with your own ligaments and doesn't pull out. Don't be frightened about any of it hon seriously. If you want any info or are worried about anything then please pm me hon becauseI am the worlds biggest coward and It was a breeze honestly. Nothing to worry about except the pain in your thighs from being in the stirrups for ages, that really aches for about 2-3 days. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Dilly i have to say im astounded/disgsted with how long it took you to get refered. (It's Gemsy here btw lol) As you know i have a daughter the same age as yours and it took me til beginning of July to get my butt in gear to get seen, from there, well as you can see from my thread, i was seen by the consultant within a fortnight, im due my urodynamics tests on the 13th and my op will be within 3 months at most.

Ive read this thread three times now and im really really REALLY worried about it all. As i say mines being done under a spinal block/epidural rather than General as thats the hospital policy. I have NO idea how im going to manage with dd as her dad doesn't want to know about having her, and my parents can only take a limited time off to help out so i need to be back and functioning within a fortnight at most

    ARGH! lol

Any top tips at all, anything i need to be wary about or need to know or be warned about?

Hiya hon, all I can say is really push to get things done. It took me over 14 months from 1st consultation to get physio, urodynamics studies done and the then decided I had a severe case and I needed surgery but do they do try everything else first. I'm glad I had it done but it isnt the miracle I wanted!!! If I have a full bladder and need to go for a wee I still leak nothing has changed there, the improvement I have is that I can cough or sneeze without leaking so that is better than it was. I'm sad about the urgency bit I just cant hold it in no way no how but I'm still glad I had it done. Also bear in mind the things you CANT do for a while after ie lift so with young twins they might not be willing to do the op until they are less needy on you. Good luck and keep us posted after your appointment so we know how you got on. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I knew I was out of sorts on Thursday. I rang the hospital with a few questions and they said I should ease up a little. WEll about 5.45pm my eldest son took my middle son to judo for me but while he w\as gone I suddenly got these absolutely crushing chest pains. When he got back I was rolling on the floor in extreme pain and couldnt breathe. He ran and got my neighbour bless him and she called an ambulance. The paramedic hooked me up to all the machines and my heart was fine although she said she couldnt rule out a PE and I was to go to hospital to be checked. Me being me refused and I had a pain killing suppository and stayed at home!!! I thought I was seriously having a heart attack but they think now it may be my gallstones having reappeared and the pain was that. I'm now feeling much better and have been to town and back twice today so I didnt have too much heavy stuff on the pram. My foof is wonderful I think and I have sneezed now without wetting myself TWICE!!!! lol so that's good enough for me!! Just want to try driving now and then I have some independance back!!! xxxxxxxxxxx

Hi Sorry you are having a bad time at the the moment. Could you perhaps ask any of the other mums that go to Judo club / school to help by taking your children for you. You don't need to go into all the details (I just said I had an operation so couldn't do too much and that has why hubby was around so much) I'm sure they would help if they could.  Or do you have any family close by that could help ? Hope you manage to get some rest over the Bank Hol weekend. Take care xx

thanks ladies. I've had a good cry today. Running about after 3 children is no fun when it's really taking it out of you. Even all the school runs today have just really taken it out of me and all the cooking and tooing and froing. I feel totally wiped out which is really stupid and I still have to walk to judo and walk and then collect again at 7. DD doesn't nap anymore so I've been chasing a 3 year old round all afternoon and I just want to go to sleep. It's only been just over a week and I though I would be ok but I don't think I am and I have no other help now DH is back at work. Just feeling really sorry for myself today. Scaring myself stupid that I'm doing too much and something is going to go wrong but what can I do?? Thanks ladies for your support it means alot. xxxxxx

Hi Glad to hear that things are going ok ! I found that the anesthetic took its toll too but don't worry that soon wears off. I hope you get on ok now your  hubby has gone back to work, mine was on and off work for the 6 weeks that I wasn't allowed to lift as I had also been warned that any lifting could put me back to square one and as I had gone through so much that was the last thing I wanted lol !! But after the 6 weeks I think he was glad to get back to work and I was glad for things to "get back to normal" - whatever that may be !! I am going to my 2nd pilates class tonight after the all clear from the hospital and am really looking forward to it. Try to takes things easy and don't do too much, get hubby to do things like the hoovering and food shopping when he is at home - make the most of the help while you have a good excuse !!

Hi, 4 months for a post-op follow-up appt - good old NHS.  At least you can see your GP if your not happy with anything I suppose.  Glad you're feeling a bit better, if knackered.  A general anaesthetic really knocks the stuffing out of you, doesn't it?  I have problems with my hair and nails for ages after having one and I had 2 ops last year so was a right state lol.  Hope all goes well now your dh is going back to work, I am really lucky as my mum and mil live nearby so got lots of extra help when Joe was at work.  Just remember no lifting (sorry to nag) I was told the tape takes a couple of months to properly attach to the ligaments and any lifting can tear it away leaving you back where you started, lecture over.  Nice to hear from you sounding a bit more positive.  Best wishes xx

Well it's been a week now and Bill goes back to work tomorrow, I walked down town and back yesterday and apart from being knackered and slow all is well!! I've got my follow up appointment - 28 August! so it's 4 months which I think personally is a long time for a follow up after surgery but hey ho! Hope both you ladies are ok xxxx
