Thanks ladies I'm more than likely fretting over nothing!! They were so busy at the hospital that they just gave me a leaflet and kind of threw me out!! Wasn't their fault they did their best under extreme pressure. When can I stop wearing a towel???? I'm not losing much but still a little. I went to Asda today but had to cut it short as I felt really light headed and dizzy half way round, probably saved me some money!!!!!!!! (DH went with me and I didn't drive!!) I know I only had it done on Tuesday but I have to be right by Thursday when DH goes to work so I'm trying to do as much as I can without doing too much. Thanks to both of you for posting and reassuring me. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Hi, try not to worry about things too much. I am a real worrier and immediately after my op my muscles didn't want to seem to communicate with my brain at all and I was having quite a problem with timing issues lol !! but I think it was just the anaesthetic still in my system and all of the bruising. I was really upset as I didn't have those kind of problems before.  It took a few days but things did get better. If you are worried why don't you contact your doctor at the hospital. I spoke to my Dr's nurse on several occasions and she was great and didn't mind me calling at all and really put my mind at rest. Please be careful as you need to avoid lifting and 10 days is not long after the op to be doing things as normal. Take care and I am sure things will improve. xx

Hi, bear in mind everything is still a bit battered and bruised, I had some leaks initially and I think the urge part especially isn't instant.  I find it also depends on time of the month.  In the week before I'm due to start my period I get the occasional tiny leak but still a massive improvement on before the op.  I think the pre-menstrual hormones relax the muscles slightly.  My post-op check was 6 weeks but I would phone if you don't hear anything.  It's still very early days hun, give everything a chance to settle inside xxx

I'm really worried it hasn't worked!! I'm still leaking especially if I cough or if I'm desperate to go it's still happening.I'm so upset as I believe the surgery has immediate effects so if it isn't working now it isn't going to! I feel really down about it all. Not much I can do until m check up which the nurse said was 4 weeks but on m docs letter it says 4 months so I have no idea. I'm trying to get up and be doing things as Bill is back at work on Thurdsday and with 3 children and school runs etc to do I have to be fit and wel 10 days after the op.

Hi  I have just joined Bounty today and have seen this forum for the first time. I read your message as I had TVT surgery in Feb 2008. I am gald your operation went well and that you feel ok. I have just been signed off from the hospital 2 weeks ago and have just started exercising again. I really wish that I knew about the forum before my op as I was so embarrased to talk about my problem and didn't tell anyone - only my husband and best friend. I am glad that you were able to ask questions and get reassurance, I wish I had been able to.  If it helps - I now feel great !  I have even been able to use my trampett that has been sitting in my bedroom redundant for the past 18 months ! I was very nervouse at first as I was worried that the surgery would not have made any difference but it has ! I hope you have a trouble free and speedy recovery - remember NO LIFTING .... lol !!!

Hi, I'm glad it all went smoothly for you.  I remember it well, walking so slowly and carefully, taking forever to sit yourself down and twice as long to stand back up.  When I asked the nurses afterwards exactly what position they pull you into they laughed and told me I really didn't want to know!  Best wishes for a very quick, successful recovery xxx

Well! It's all done and really wasn't worth the worry!! I didn't sleep on Monday night , the ward lights were all left on and it was noisy and I was worried so all in all about an hours kip. Went to theatre at 10am and wwas back on the ward at 11.30am feeling surprisingly well but oh my god!! YOu were right about the pain in the thighs and groin area. I'm home now but still can only walk very gingerly and slowly and if I move it hurts!!!! Other than that I feel great. It feels very different "down there" so I hope thats a good thing! Wasn't sick either and had a gas induction so I didn't feel them put the canular in!!!!!! All in all it was pretty good, I just hope it works, I think it is although when I cough at the mo I feel lile everything is falling out so not sure!!!! lol

Thank you and thanks for all your help it's been very reassuring. I am packed and ready to go and am just wishing it was over now although I am looking forward to sitting and reading a book tomorrow evening!!! Never get a chance at home with 3 children!! Hopefully I won't feel too sick after the anaesthetic, that's the bit I'm dreading, but they have promised lots of anti sickness meds as I have a history of bad reactions. Other than that I'm not too bothered about anything. Here goes nothing!!! Will post when I get home xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Good luck, you're very organised lol.  If you ask for something to help you sleep on Monday night they usually oblige.  Hope it all goes quickly for you and best wishes for a speedy recovery xx

Well I've been and had my foof waxed today in readiness!!! No one is going near me with an NHS disposable razor!!! I'm all ready to go now and although I'm not really worried it's on my mind and I just wish Monday was here and I was in. Monday night will be a long one as I go into hospital on Monday and don't have op until Tuesday morning. Glad when it's all done with now.

Hi, definitely make the most of the help, I was told to lift nothing heavier than a coffee cup in the first week (I allowed for a book in the other hand lol).  As for driving, I was told to wait a week then it would be ok as long as there was no discomfort when pressing down on the pedals.  Good luck x

Can I just ask about driving? Is that pretty much straight away or do you have to give it a few weeks?

Hiya, I have my dates - I go in on Monday 21st April and my op in on morning of 22nd. I think I might stay in overnight if they let me because I am always really sick after a general and I really don't fancy the journey home in the car on the same day!!! Hopefully be home on the Wednesday and have a few days of people running about after me. DH has booked some annual leave so he will be about for the best part of 2 weeks after I come out.

Hi again, I'm probably not the best to ask about being back to normal as I was one of the 1% who develop an infection post-op so my recovery took a bit longer.  My actual bladder problems stopped more or less immediately though.  I must admit the car journey home that evening was extremely nauseating and uncomfortable (avoid speed bumps lol) and I was sick in the car just as we pulled into our driveway (had a bag handy but still not the best).  They will only let you out the same day if someone is going to be with you for the first 24 hours.

I'm not one for the gym myself, my main exercise is running about after my 2 boys, but I'm sure the info leaflet they gave me said 6-8 weeks for any strenuous gym activities.

Do you have your date yet?  I was the same as yourself, very keen to get it done and get back to normal.  It really has made a huge difference for the better. x

oh thank you so much for sharing your experience, I'm not worried too much about it all, infact I'm quite excited to get it all done and hope the results are as good as yours.  How long before you felt "back to normal" please and how long before I can get back on the crosstrainer at the gym?? I'm desperately trying to lose weight for our holiday!!! lol I'm so glad you posted, I think depending on how I am after the anaesthetic I will decide whether to go home or not! (I'm not good usually and I dont fancy a car journey if I'm still feeling yuk!!!) Thanks again xxxx

Hi, I had TVT-O surgery last Nov which is very similar.  I had a general anaesthetic and the only external incisions I had were 1 at the top of each thigh.  The worst thing immediately afterwards was the pain in my thighs and groin from all the really stretched muscles (they have to put you in quite an impressive position to 'gain access', good job you're asleep the whole time lol).  I had a catheter for a few hours only and for the next few hours after that every time I peed they measured it and did an ultrasound to check if I was retaining any urine (they only had to do this once).  I had no internal pain, just felt a bit like I was desperate to pee when I wasn't, this only lasted a few hours.  I got home that evening although that was a personal choice they wanted me to stay and I did nothing at all for the first few days.  The worst part was no heavy lifting which in my case inluded lo, I wasn't able to lift him for 2 months and then only a quick lift (into highchair etc) for a further month, no walking about carrying him.  I was told I could resume light housework after 2 weeks.

Bladder-wise the difference was amazing, no more leaks, no more pads, it was brilliant.  I think that's everything, I wasn't allowed to use tampons for 3 months after though and no sex either for 4-6 weeks.  Anything else you want to know just ask, been there, done that, completely recommend it.  Good Luck xx

Can anyone tell me if they have had one of these and what it's like afterwards please? I go in to have mine on 21st April (op 22nd)  I'm really thrilled that after 3 children and increasingly worsening stress incontinence which is now quite bad I finally have a chance of something being odne about it! I'd appreciate anyone sharing their experience. Thanks Sarah
