The midwife went throughthe pain relief options - the gas and air wasnt doing a thing - infact it made me feel woozy - so i opted for an epidural. I figured that if the g&a was making me feel crap then a morphine based drug would have the same effect. The epidural was put in arond 9am and was bliss!!!!! Totally pain free and yeah - i had to have a cathater fitted and couldnt move my legs much - they wern't totally numb though but i wouldnt have wanted to stand up on them!! Lol! So we sat and talked to the mw for a good few hours. It tuned out she was from hull - where me and C went to uni - so we had loads to discuss! it was all dead surreal though as i could see the contractions coming and going by looking at my tummy as it tensed up but i couldnty feel the pain!!!! At 1pm I was ready to push so we spent the next 2 hours pushing - it didnt hurt though - infact it was painless - i could tell when the contreacting were coming and the mw was fab and guided me in pushing and told me exactly what to do. There was a continuous printout coming through a machine next to me of Em's heart beat and also when my contractions were coming so that was great as could visually see that too when they came. I did have a dull period type pain for the duration but nothing like the agony of before the epidural was done.
The oushing made me feel a bit light headed - you know what it feels like if you had 20 baloons to blow up? That sort of feeling really. Anyhow after 2 hours of pushing ems heart rate started to dip slightly and my bp started to drop too so they brought in a consulatant who said to keep going for another hour (which is what I wanted to do) but that if there was no joy after that they'd bring in the ventouse or the forceps as Ems was showing a few signs of distress. I was given oxytocin to speed up the contractions which worked but Ems wasn't budging very far. We then decided that ventouse would be best so they got ready to use that. In the meantime though the contractions were getting a liuttle painful so i was given a little 'button' to hold and press to administer more epidural if i wanted it. When they 'fitted' the ventouse on her little head though i was in agony and was screaming in pain. They had to cut me with scissors and i was shieking at them that i could feel everything so they gave me a local anaesthetic there to numb it - which worked but still could feel the contractions. anyhow - to cut a long story short (sorry have really gone on here havent I?!) It on ly took 6 contractions witht he ventouse and Emily arrived. Those 6 contactiosn were awful though - i was in tears and was trying to get off the bed so I could run away from them - think i was a bit delireous at this point! The mw and the surgeon were lovely though and am sure they thought i was being melloow dramatic!
The placenta woulsnt shift so i then had to go into theatre for an op to manually remove it. it was at thius pojnt that the surgeon notices that my legs were moving loads and it became apparant that they were no longer anaethatised.

anyhow.........i went to the loo and checked out the colour of the amniotic fluid as it was still coming out - it was clear - thanks god - with white bits in it - a bit like the water looks like if you poach an egg in a saucepan - gross i know - sorry - tmi again!!!
i had period pain but no contrqactions so chris made us both a cuppa and
i called the hospital for advice. they said to come straight in and they're monitor em's heart and heck me out b ut the chances were that they'd send me home for 12 hours to see out the first part of the labour. i had a shower and got dressed then as i was drying my hair the contractions started. theyt felt like period pain but it came in waves and was 100000 times more painfull. i had to stop everything and bend over the bed and breath through them. i took a copuple of paracetamol and then chris started timimg the contractings as i finished getting dressed. we then realised that they were lasting 45 seconds+ and were only 3 mins apart! s***io!!! the books said they'd be around 30mins apart in the early stages so we quickly got in the car and went ot hosp. the hosp is only 5 miles away but i had 6 contractions in the car!!! ouch! i was in agony when we got there. they checked the heart beat and it was all fine then checked me out - and then - an hour and a half after the waters had gone - found out that i was actually 7cm dilated! hence the pain!! haha!i went straight to the delivery suite and by then was in so much pain. we tried the tens machine but i think it was far too late by then - the tens machine prob would have been more appropriate the day before!! lol!
(going to start andother post again....x)

thanks han, had a bit of a down spell the other night when i wrote that. am ok now though and full of beans - just keep having huge ups and downs at the moment - dead down - then really estatic the next minute!
right then - ruthie's birth storry!!
i wont go into massive detail as will be on here all day - lol! essentially on tues 13th may i had period pain all day and back ache. took paracetamol and mum and dad came up to visit me for the day. we went out for lunch and i mentioned it to mum - she said she thought i was in the first stages of labour but i'd had that pain for a few days so just put it down to doing loads of gardenuing the day before and being nackered - she wasn't due for another week so never thought much of it.
went to bed that night and was shattered. hardly slept a wink as needed a p*** every hour and also the heartburn was so bad i was swigging the gaviscon out of the bottle every 40 minutes! mental! then at 3qam i had to get up (for the 14th time that night - woe is me eh!) as had an upset tum and had the squits (tmi - sorry!) i went back to sleep at 4am then woke with a start at 5:30am to a loud 'pop' sounds - then was flooded with amniotic fluid! my waters had gone big time and i was soaking. i woke chris and went to the loo and he stripped down the bed (luckily we'd put a pampers childs bed mat under the sheet 'just in case' - am so glad we did!!!!
(going to start a new post incase the laptop crashes and i lose all of this....x)

Just me! Popped on quick as just cant get Emilt off to sleep. im totally knackered!!!
Feeing ever so guilty though as haven't hardly been on here for ages. In fact have beenproper crap with epractically verything recently - apart from looking after her that is. Feel like the last month has whizzed by and ive blinked and we've gone from the start of may to the start of june - the bit in the middle is somehwat of a blurr.
I cant even tell you what i did last week or the week before or even yesterday - just falling through the days really. Feel really bad for neglecting all my frieds when really last month i should have been on here even more than ever. I dont really know what happened - just feel like ive been in a time warp or something. We've been given loads of lovely presents for emily but it's been 3 weeks since she was born now and i still havent got my arse into gear to write thank you cards to everyone - how rubbish is that?!
anyhow - enough grumbling from me - i know i shouldnt moan about anything and should be happy - which i am really - estatic infact in becoming a mummy - i just guess its all new and completely different from anythign ive ever experiences before. i have a completely free day tomorrow - no midwife, no health visitor and more importantly no visitors - the first free day so far - yay! so will get on here and catch up once and for all and get into the swing of it all again cos i really miss you guys loads.
I hope youa re all well - ive had a quick squizz at the most recent posts and cant believe how far on evertyone is! Hannah- where have the last 16 weeks gone?! Cant believe its claggers countdown already!!! Woohoo! i'm so so pleased for you all!!!
Best go but speak tomorrow frieds - and apologies for my crappy crapness.
Hugs,
Rx

was getting sore heads there for a few days but i have my own blood pressure machine and it is perfect i think it is stress with us remortgaging and the weather being hot then cold then rain or it could be my hormones but i have the doc on tuesday, it has calmed down a lot today so must be the humidity or stress.
well chicks hope all is well and its claggers countdown now if we dont here for a few days then we will be like has she went, feel we were all like this with cat its soo exciting

afternoon all
Welcome back Ruth - Hope you are all keeping well. Look forward to the gory details - haha. Sure she will settle again soon but catch up on sleep when you can - i'm not looking forward top the culture shock of motherhood - eek will def miss my morning lie-ins.
Hiya Lynne - nearly at the 10 week countdown!!! Sure she will have grown loads since the last scan - we have another two yet so they will be really exciting too. BW kicks and wriggles and can just see movement if i'm lying down in bed - really freaky but nice. wierd to see my tummy rolling about.
Helloo to the rest - not long for you now Clagger - all packed and ready???
Well, still not navigated the nappy mine-field. Thought i had decided on Little Lambs but then some peeps on my nappy thread have been saying they have about 3 diff types of nappy - why is this - am i just really clueless but why would you need 3 diff types - surely a nappy is a nappy - do you need different ones for nightime??? agggggg all confused again.
Weighted myself yesterday and have put on 9kg - just over 1st. Belly button is getting worse re poking outie - eek. Looks quite cute i suppose but a bit wierd (have this really huge thinag about it for some reason - it's just wierd cos was always really deep and could never really see the bottom of it - now it's really shallow and makes me giggle.)
Still not decided on nursery colour - now have a 7th paint tester to try - fingers crossed it's a winner.
right, thats me done for today - at work so really should find somehing to do

Hey Frieds!!
the mummy returns!!!
Have had a right nightmare getting in here - the laptop has got rid of my password etc and i couldnt remember evertthing so ive had to re-register! Doh!
Things are all crazy here in sunny newcastle but am finally getting my head out of my arse and getting into some sort of routine.......hat off to your mummies who already have kids - its bloody hard work!!!
Am off to bed now as we'[ve just managed to get her off to sleep = the sleeping through thing didnt last long - the last 2 nights have been crap - making the most of the sleep while we can get it!
Will write again real soon with my gory birth details - was loads of fun though and would do it again tomorrow as the reward at the end of it all is so worth it! Let's just say the epidural literally fell out 15 minutes before delivery therefore i had to go through the delivery with only 2 paraceptamol for comforty - ouch - but im still here to tell the tail so it wasnt that bad really! Lol!
Anyhow frieds - speak soon - for those of you who have facebook ive oploaded a couple of opics of emily if you fancy a squizz.
Hugs, xxxxx

howdy all
OMG 7 weeks to go Clagger - get that bag packed or you never know you might be dashing aboot trying to find your nighty. Too late re 2leftfeet - my mum has ordered it already - but she said she ordered something else for Tilly and it arrived no prob so hopefully will be ok - the pram we have ordered isn't released yet - new colour so won't arrive for a month or so anyway - and i pitty the fool who messes with my mum ( she's a school teacher and can tell anyone off so they feel good and sorry) also my dad is semi retired so has plenty of time to ring them and chase - they won't get away with not delivering it - haha. Gardening sounds very energetic - i get tired just thinking about it. nice to get out there tho - very relaxing and theraputic. Leave the ironing tho - make the men do it - haha (year right if i let PJ iron it would be even more creased)
Hiya Lynne - sounds like you had a nice bank hol getaway. Is the weather nice up there - it's horrid here today again. was glorious yeaterday but cloudy today - booooo. I have to have bloods taken at 27 weeks - checking iron levels and also have to drink 285ml lucozade 1hr before to check glucose levels i guess - will be icky cos have to drink it at 9am - yummy - not. saw midwife on tues and she measured me - i'm 25cm - whatever that means - she measured from top of bump to pelvic bone. Have another scan on 8th July - it's all going on. can't believe only 12 weeks left for you - and 16 weeks left for me - it's mad!!
Hiya Han - ah you've caved too - i went and bought laods of nursery stuff yesterday. I figured that best to spread cost so got all the bedding - really cute. Also bought a sleeper bag thing, little hat set and clothing set from Tesco - they are adorable blue and white striped with a lion on sleeper, and giraffe on babygrow thing. - PJ got a bit cross saying too soon to buy clothes and that we will get tiven so many but io have to buy some things- hehe.
Helloo to Cat and Ruth - hope all is going well with you lot.
Well, the great paint debate has started - we have 6 colour swatches on nursery wall - it's like goldie locks. on is too dark, one is too light, one is too yellow on is too white - BW is going to be a spoilt baby. My mum suggested i tried the Dulux heritage range or Laura Ashley - i told her he was a baby and prob didn't need expensive paint - now we are thinking about sourcing it from France - they have a lovely creamy yellow colour over there but that would mean not painting utill we get home from hol in Aug. Mum has a sample so we will try it and see - it's getting ridicerous but we can't find the right colour. Bought all the bedding from John Lewis yesteday - it's soooooooooooooo cute. All their hide and seek range with little bunny and bear. Nice creamy/yellow/neutral colour and just want to eat it it's that cute. Got a bath set too much to Pj's disgust - apparently we have a bath but explained that would waste water to fill up big bath each time. got very cute cuddle robe with little bear face on it - ahhhhhhhhh.
Now having the great anppy debate. Doing nappy research re reusable - and very confused. Has anyone here gone for re-usable??? they seem quite good but expensive to buy - seem to work out cheaper in long run tho.

Hiya Folks, glad your all out in force.
Vikki, I've heard some really bad things about "two left feet" so I would suggest avoiding it. One girl on here said that after 6 months she's still awaiting her refund.
I've only got 7 weeks left!!!!!!! Can't wait now, got sausage fingers now, don't seem to be going down and I've put 2 stone on!!!!! Aaarrggggghhhhh. Got to pack my hospital bag though this week, I can't be arsed to do the ironing though. We've been really busy doing the garden so all my energy has been going on that and the house has taken a huge nose dive.
Got my new pushchair, it's so funky you wouldn't believe. It's the same as Catherine's but a different colour, it's brill.....I lurrrrvvee it!!!!
Glad your all doing well.

Ah han - i haven't bought anything yet - just you watch this months pay packet tho. Will be buying nursary furniture soon too so put together.
Has anyone heard good/bad things about company 'two left feet'? Have read some awful things on a thread about them but thats who we were going to buy our pram from. They have a good deal with car seat inc so my mum was going to order it. Anyone had any experiance cos sometime you only hear bad things cos no-one mentions the good things iykwim.
hope everyone enjoying the last of the bank hol feeling - quite looking forward to work in a geegky way esp as was off on fri too - i know, i'm sad.

Hiya all,
Ah Lynne - bet you still go mad shopping for stuff - you won't be able to help it. all the cute pink stuff will just be crying out to you - girls stuff is soooo adorable. You have been at the coke haven't you - you crazy loon. How wa the mid-wife app - was blood taking ok?? what are they testing for - hope i don't need anymore taken tho getting used to it now.
AH Cat - how is the little tiny puppy - is your house still in one piece? Didn't get the chance to log on but yes i def recommend crates for puppies - argod do great ones - and not too pricey. They should sleep in crate and also have some time out during day too - if you can bear to put them down so they get used to being on own a bit - tho as you will be at home most of time not as imp. Did you stick to a choccy one?? What have you called him??? you have to put some pics up. what are you feeding him on - has the breeder told you any funny stuff - we love to have a giggle at breeders recommendations at work - some are ridicerous but you breeder sounded sensible.
Hello to the rest - hope you are all keeping well - and lots of hugs to Ruth, CHris and Emily.
Well, i cleared out the nursary room yesterday - it has a floor - OMG... looks a lot bigger now it's empty too - not for long tho cos going to go shopping soon and do some painting. Baby Walker has been having a right boogie recently - he rally does enjoy kicking his mummy - PJ rekons he is getting in practice for drop kicks (men!)
Hope everyone has had a wizzy jolly weekend - we went to seaside on friday - was good fun and came home with one wet, sandy very tired doggie and some sticks of rock - yum. Been a bit sad since then cos my fave little cat has gone missing - the other two are moping about and we have been out lookoing for him everywhere - just hope that he has got trapped in a grage and will be released soon - hate to think that someone has tolen him or thought he was 'stray' cos he would be sooo unhappy in someone elses house - he's a mummies boy and is even scared of PJ. Have cried alot - like the big jessie tht i am.
right, i'm off to get in shower and get dresses - then may clean some more and then gonna bake some choccy fairy cakes and scones. YUMMYYYYYYYY

early evening all, just thought i would look to see if anybody about, but it is the weekend and is always a little quieter, was helping my dad today and just had a lovely shower while simon away to get the crisps/juice and sweets in for the night, my mum has taylor tonight so we are going to relax.
ruth's labour story it sounds like she had about all you can have oh dear hope she is doing ok, how's the rubber ring doing ruth lol lol, i tell you i could have done with one of them after taylor and she was only 7lbs 3 oz.
well hope everybody is doing fine and dandy and will catch up tomorrow xxxx

Hiya Frieds, thought it was about time we all moved over from TTC as we've now all got our BFP's and it's not right been in TTC anymore.
Hope you all find me over here, cos I'm on my own at the mo and I can just imagine you all still over in TTC without me. Boo,hoo.
Well, 24wks today for me, can't believe that I finish work in 5 weeks, can't wait!!!! The week I finish we are going away to my Dad's caravan on the East Coast for the week so it'll be nice to chill out and a chance to get my feet up for a few days whilst Darren runs around after Tom.
Ruth, I think you should tell Chris' mum that you don't think it's a good idea to come up that week and that you're heads will be all over the place and it's a special time for Chris and yourself. You don't know how you'll feel when you go into labour and would feel embarassed if they were there. Could you suggest to them that they come up and "help out" with the baby once you've had her. This way you get to have a bit of a helping hand and they get to see their new grandaughter as well. Ask them if they want to come up for about 4 days.
Be honest with them, they won't mind the honesty. I'm sure they would feel better knowing that you were happy.
Hope you all find me soon.
