Hi everything is ok now. I had my baby girl on the 18th by c-section, cyst was also removed at the same time with minimal scarring. When I saw the consultant he said I did no have much of an option as the cyst was over 18 cms and keyhole surgery had the risk of some of the fluid leaking inside the womb when operating plus no guarantees of full removal??!!!

All is fine now and I can enjoy my baby.

    thanks for your help

Thanks that helps....I guess I have just been unlucky....I got really annoyed though,  when they told me at my 20wks that  to be safely operated  (safe for the baby)  the window of opportunity was between 16 and 20 weeks!!!!! and then expected me to decide what to do within days as it became dangerous for me to have a growing cyst!!!!! Is this kind of treatment normal???? I keep wishing I have had all the facts and info from the beginning so I could have taken and informed decision....perhaps push them to monitor the cyst at 16 wks or something.....

I don't know the ins and outs of cysts as I've only had the one I'm aware of so can only comment on that bit. Different consultants do things differently and will always view things from alternate angles to one another. Would it be possible to request the same consultant for your appointments or are you one of the unlucky people who is in the whoever pile? They found my cyst at my first scan and said they would only check again before my 20 week scan if I was in pain a lot of the time, bad days and good days weren't often enough for it to be a problem. I was led to believe checking at routine scans was often enough to decide if it had shrunk or not - luckily mine did. Perhaps it was the same reason for the gap between checking your cycst growth?

    Hi

I keep receiving conflicting info and I am in desperate need of help!!! Please!!!

I was detected a then 5cm ovarian cyst  during my first scan that happenend to be an emergency  one because I was bleeding and thought I was 13wks pregnant.....Luckily I was only 9wks so the bleeding was not to be worried about and the cyst neither according to the consultant....

Next scan at 20 wks my cyst was about 13cm and all of the sudden my baby and myself are at risk and I should be operated but can not do keyhole  surgery...I have to be cut open which just happened to be even more riskier for pregnancies over 21 wks!!!?????

And no answers to my question Why was I not monitored more regularly???? They started to do it after though a bit too late

Anyway different consultants different advice....so I did what felt right and did not go through with surgery.....It is an ovarian cyst, it has been painful at times, it keeps growing,,,,I have my next scan on Wednesday and it might have grown bigger...."They"= consultants (different one each time I go for a check up) keep insisting on me trying vaginal birth although I had a c-section with the first one as I was not dilating.....

I am worried that I might loose my ovary;  that they might not remove all of it if they do keyhole surgery after birth;  they might only drain it....I keep searching on the internet and feeling like I have not been given the whole picture......and time is running out!!!!!

    Help please ...anything will do...
