i got preg in nov and told everyone straight away, but i lost in jan....it was hard tellin everyone baby had gone. Then i got preg again in may,and we swore after wot happened last time we wouldnt say...i tried so hard but couldnt keep it quiet and within the wk of knowing i told my best friend n mum n dad n siblings.I didnt tell work straight away, altho it didnt matter when i told them cos we all got on well, and my boss already knew from last one that i wouldnt be comin back to work after bubs was born.I think i told work at bout 8 wks, which i was glad about cos at 9 wks had a bleed at work and they let me go straight away, had some time off but ended up leavin cos had bleeds every 2/3 wks and mw said i needed to just rest.I still go into work place and show em scans, belly etc.I dont think u need to tell work til the 15th wk before ur due,but make sure u do ur research on this, and dont need to tell em about ur plans with leave etc til then either.Do a search bout maternity rights at work, this should help.I think when to tell is a personal thing. We ended up tellin cos i would need the support if i did lose again, and if i lost id tell these ppl i had so didnt make sense to keep a secret.Im nrly 19wks now - its very exciting and i wish u all the luck in the world, and i hope i havent scared u!!!I find it impossible to keep a secret like this, and like your mum,my mum has a way of already knowin anyway!!!...

    HI - Congratulations!!!!!  Exciting eh?!!!!

I'm on my 2nd baby - I told most people after my first scan (apart from work as unfortunately as work in a "dangerous" job have to give up work as soon as they know you are pregnant - so kept stum until I showed).  I told my mum, dad (and obviously OH) alot sooner though.

With my first I was working in an office then so a bit different but I waited until after the first scan.

Hope that helps - and congratulations again!!! Hope all goes well x

    Hi everyone

I've signed up here having just come back from the doctors who confirmed I am 6 weeks pregnant   My husband and I are over the moon, we have only been married just under 5 months and hadn't even started 'trying' yet!

So anyway I hope you don't mind (like I said I'm new to this), I have a few questions for you more experienced Mums-to-be

    1. When did you all tell everyone, for me the thought of waiting 4-6 weeks is a nightmare, I'm sooooo excited   DId you tell close family and friends straight away and then others after the first scan, or did you wait to tell everyone?  I have this feeling my Mum will just 'know'.
    2. When did you tell work?  I work in an office (i.e. not manual work) so don't need to tell them straight away but I just wondered what usually happened.  Tbh the company I work for has less than 20 staff, has been going for less than 10 years and as far as I'm aware they've never had anyone on maternity leave.
    3. When I tell work should I discuss straight away how much time I intend to take off, and that I would like to come back part-time, or does that come later?

Sorry for the long first post, I'm just bursting with excitement
