I have been induced twice at 38 weeks due to SPD. Both times i had limited mobility and it actually caused my pelvis to fracture. I am pregnant with my 4th child and would love to have a spontaneous labour but since having my children the SPD is now a permanant disability and i have quite a lot of back problems which has led to muscle damage and torn ligaments..... so i dont know how things will turn out this time.
I'll use this opportuity to urge girls with SPD to get proper care and get scans on the pelvis and checked out afterwards with xrays. If i had pushed for this and problems were found and treated i may have avoided what is now a permanant disability.

i was induced with sever spd with my second child at 38 weeks, it was so bad i could not look after our ds who was 2 at the time, and my dh was told if he took any more time off work he would have to be let go, i begged the consultant for an induction and was given one. I had a fairly good birth experience, very quick with no pain relief, although i did find the routine internals painful due to having to open my legs etc. Thid time (i am 34wks) i was hoping for a hb (as dont realy like hospitals anyway) but spd is so bad now im goin gto ask midwife today for an early inducation again as cannot look after ds and dd, and dh wroks long hours, and have no-one else to help. My doc did say a week or so ago that they may induce from 36wks, not sure if this is right???

you really donty weant to be induced on the grounds of spd hun. i have had spd 3 times now.
second time was last year i was iinduced at 39 weeks because they thought she was big i was very limited in how i could give birth i wanted to deliver on my knees but they forced me on my back and into stirrups because its easier for them... unfortunately it meant i was still suffering the spd months after the birth so i wouldnt have been any better off if i had been induced for the spd.
this time around i had spd really badly like you was housebound in the last few few weeks/month dh had to do the school run everyday take care of our 12 month old dd e.t.c i stuck to my guns this time and insisted on having another homebirth i managed to deliver how i want to deliver and how is best for someone with spd and the spd has gone now a week on from the birth!.
read up on birth positions for spd and i know its hard trust me i do its not nice but it doesnt last forever and i would take going naturally and recovering from spd fast to being induced and it possibly taking months to recover and sometimes women never recover due to how they give birth.

In our area our MW wouldn't even discuss it until week 41 and would only induce then in exceptional circumstances, generally here its week 42 x

I was induced on my due date because if I had needed an epidural I couldn't get it with the medication I was on so they induced me and knew when I would be in labour. I would wait and see wether you go yourself. Induction seems easy but it was far from it!

hi, my due date is the 18th october, i have had so many problems causing myself pain all through, i have been hoping so badly that i go earlyish, but knowing my luck i will go late, my question is....after your due date, wots the soonest you can get booked in to be induced? and what are the reasons for being allowd to get induced early? 1 prob i hav is i have severe SPD that has actually made me bed bound the last few days, my husband has had to stop working to take our daughter to school,
i appreciate your advice
