Aaww i think it might sounds very much like an abcess hun and that pain is the worst ever - i had one and had to have root canal to kill the nerve as it kept coming back - you need antibiotics and to get it sorted out asap
You need to see dentist again and demand he sorts it out and quickyl..... u shouldnt have to go thru this pain hun. Its not fair, especially as you cant take much for it.... try the clove oil tho, ive heard its good but never tried it.
Hope u ok and feel better soon ((hugs))

i really sympathise!!
when i was 37 weeks pregnant i had what i thought was just a toothache but it got worse and worse. Turned out to be an abcess, went to the dentist they prodded about and made it worse, one side of my face swelled up and looked like i had a black eye! it really looked like i had been beat up, didnt help that i kept prodding it but it felt better when i had pressure on it but think that made it worse. i begged the midwives to induce me cos i was in so much pain but they refused, all i could do was take paracetamol - which didnt really do anything and was given penicillin(sp) which didnt do an awful lot either, couldnt give me anythign stronger cos of being pregnant. i was in so much pain, bearly slept, felt too much of a freak to go out cos everyone kept looking at me, was in tears a lot of the time cos i'm only litle but was huuuuge! was tired, uncomfortable and in pain, not a lot i can suggest i'm afraid, the hot water bottle did help a bit but i would let your doctor/mw/dentist know you are in a lot of pain and see what they can recommend x

I agree that toothache is worse than labour! I've had loadsa probs with my teeth too this pg, and I'm surprised your dentist has done what he has to your teeth whilst pg cos mine won't touch em till after baby born (Dec). Anyway I know you have rung them up and they said the other teeth acting up, but I'm thinking the filling either pressing on a nerve or it has got an abcess underneath and making a lot of pressure...ring them back and say you are in agony, and demand to see the dentist, you shouldn't be in that much pain from a filling. Xx

Have you tried swoshing some Whiskey in your mouth - over the problem tooth. I know whiskey is disgusting but it really numbs the tooth. Hold it over your tooth for about 10 - 15 mins.
Dont forget to spit it out though !

Ohh have you tried clove oil before?? I don;t know the policy for usin when pregnant? You can get it from any chemist so could be worth a look but a couple of years ago i was awake and in agony with toothache and my mum got me clove oil and it was amazing!! It tastes horrible and avoid gettin it on your tongue! But rubbed into the gum it completely numbs it and gives a relaxed feeling, worth lookin into if nothing else works...i always keep a bottle in my house now just in case!
Hope the pain stops soon

oooooooh i can help i know the best way to cure pain ever!
(my mum taught me well hun)
Warm some salt up in a milk pan. Make it nice and warm it doesnt take long. Grab a pillow case and tip the salt inside of it. Wrap the pillow case around the salt and hold it where the pain is. The heat will draw the pain out and salt holds the heat so works for ages. You can even reheat the same salt. (you need to use quite a bit though)
I hope this helps hun
good luck xxxx

I got a filling few months back and when the numbness wore off, my tooth was throbbing and pain up my whole side of head.. I cried like a child, I rang dentist in floods of tears who told me that its just the nerve ends that have been drilled through to make hole to fill throbing to heal iykwim.. and the pressure of the new fillin pressing on the nerves.. i cried all night that i couldnt take anymore, and pleased to say the next day it was mild pain, then by the afternoon was throbbing (no pain) then evening was fine.. however filling fell out after a month so demanded it pulled lol x

I've had nothing but problems with my teeth during this preg, I have already had extractions when i was about 20 weeks and now I've had a filling earlier today cos i was in so much pain. now, hours later, the anaestetic has worn off and the filled tooth and the teeth next to it are just throbbing soooo bad, it's the worst pain ever (to me worse than labour) and i cant take anything for it! I've had a couple of co-codamols which i normally take for my SPD, but all i want to do is have this baby right here and now so that i can take something stronger to ease the pain! with every painkiller i take im so worried it might harm Max, but the pain is just so awful i cant help it! i rang the dentist and they think it's just because ive had the tooth filled that the ones next to it are acting up, bt what am i supposed to do about this pain? if i wasn't preg i would go straight to the chemist and get some solpadene max but i'm not allowed!! i wish he would come now so i can have my body back to do what i want with! I'm not mad at him not at all, but i just want to be able to take something stronger without harming him........... god ive cried so much today i just wanna go to sleep and wake up with either the pain gone or my labour starting!!
if anyone knows anything that can help PLEASE tell me, it is really throbbing and even going into my eye (it is a top tooth). also if anyone has had a filling did the teeth next to it hurt afterwards when the anastethic wore off??
Thanks, Claire 35+1 x

i can really sympathise with you hun. i had my wisdom tooth root filled on monday but it wasnt any better.not slept since i had it done so this morning after bein in so much pain i had it pulled out. the relief was amazing!! the dentist must treat you because you cant take as much pain relief as you want they have to make you comfortable. i tried every remedy ion the market but once the pain is that intense nothing makes it go away! sorry for long post. hop you get sorted out soon to enjoy the rest of your pregnancy. take care x
