    hi

you can rent an electric pump from most hospital for just ten pound as i know i brought an advent pump myself and was not cheap but usless.

expressing and stright to the breast worked great for me as my daughter was in nicu for three weeks.

my breasts did not produce milk untill i first expressed but i found i had so much the nurses asked if i could donate to nicu.

make sure you relax and try not to stress about how much or when you produce. and if you have to use formular it is just as good.

good luck hope all goes well.

    lol what a story!!

As long as it's normal, i will wait until a few week before baby is due and try express.  I don't want to start something if its perfectly fine as it is. thank you for you reassuring words.

No don't worry, I'm 39+3 and they're not leaking yet. You could try hand expressing to see if there's anything there, prob best after a warm shower, start from the outside of your boobs and gently rub towards the nipple, then squeeze the nipple and it should come out. Incidentally, with DD1 mine didn't start properly leaking (and I mean pouring) until she was a few days old. I was changing her while topless and suddenly though the roof was leaking as there was something dripping loads down my legs and onto my feet! Called DH to check the ceiling and it turned out it was my boobs!!

Yup you just might find expressing hard to start with some woman manage fine others struggle ive got 10 month old twins and to start with they were just BF then we started expressing and hubby gave them the odd bottle they ALWAYS latched on fine after a bottle and until a stay in hospital a couple of weeks ago they were still happily breastfeeding, and would accept either from the breast or the bottle no problems, only stopped now due to expecting again 1st Jan and having not fed them for a whole weekend while in hospital it seemed like the ideal time lol  xxx

    Hi girls and boys!

I'm hoping to breastfeed my baby if possible but i don't want DP to miss out on that part.  I was wondering if anybody could tell me if me if i breastfeed and my partner does a bottle feed of expressed milk on a monring when he gets in from work, will the baby take my breast again? I hope that makes sense

    Thanks

    Mandy
