When on maternity leave you are still emplyerd with the company, but you are not classed asa a 'worker' so assuming that you have to be working there to be preomoted I don't think you will be able to get a promotion. Especially if there are people who are working there, they cannot really give it so someone who is on m aternity leave.

I may be wrong, but it seems like it is more unfair to the people who are actually woring there???

You might be better off seeking advice from ACAS to be sure. But I wouldn't want to ba taking on more responisibility in the workplace as well as having a baby to look after.

Is it, or is it not discrimination to be told that you can indeed apply for a new internal promotion in your existing place of work but that you will not get it because you will be on maternity leave at some point during it?

I'm due next March and have just been told this about a promotion opportunity inmy place of work. Any thoughts.help would be great.
