With thomas i went into labour at 6am in morning, and because of how he was laid when he engaged there wasnt even pressure on my cervix (he was laid facing my left thigh)

so it took ages to dilate, i only got to 4cm in 15hrs, but was kept in hospital during the whole labour as thomas had fast heart beat. then towards end he was getting distressed which is when they said its best to go for c-sec now before any damage happens to baby. my midwife said few weeks later about reading on some notes he had done a poo, but no1 at hospital told me that.

isit true then that the longer you wait theres more chance of a natural or doesnt it matter how long?

Depends why you had the section.

I had an emergency section in 2004 with my daughter and am pregnant again due in feb and have been told i can have a normal birth with this one so long as everything is ok.

Ive been told that i will be monitered a bit more whilst in labour to make sure the scar doesnt tear etc but because its been over 2 years since last section I should be OK.

The only thing I have found is I feel 'pulling' more and consultant has said this is because of previous section.

It depends entirely on the reasons behind you having a csection before.

I had an emergency section in March 2007, and 2nd baby is due in December. My consultant is happy to let me try naturally.

My section was because I had pre eclamsia so was induced, and baby got distressed. There's no reason that will happen again so they look at that when deciding whether to let you try naturally. Ie, if you had a section because baby was breech - there's no reason that will happen again.

Hope that made sense! You'll probably get shared care between midwife and consultant anyway as you've had previous section, and consultant will go through everything with you.

Hi, I'm due my 2nd in march after a c-sec in April 1999. Have been told that it will increase my risk of having to have another one but that I am not allowed to have an elective c-sec (they don't want to make any existing issues worse) and will do everything possible to ensure this time round it's natural.

I have also been told however that a closer eye will be kept on me throughout this time  - ie an extra 2 scans near the end and if it looks like I'll need one it will be done sooner in labiour rather than waiting ages to see if things get any better.

It used to be true 'once a csec always a csec' ,but not anymore, youmight not need another, but it's just a slightly higher risk that you will need one.

    Hope that helps.
