Does anyone know if you still accrue holidays at work if you are receiving MA? I know I did when I was on SMP.

    Hi

I am claiming maternity allowance and once they confirm your payments it takes between 5-10 days for payments maximum. I was told that all payments are paid on Fridays regardless of weekly or four weekly method. As the maternity week is Sunday to Saturday it is the Friday before the Saturday. Also if you have opted for it to start from another day other than a Sunday then your first week will be payment of however many days up till that Saturday i.e start on wednesday then first payment on Friday would be for 4 days then following week a full weeks money. Hope this helps and hasn't confused you further.

Its different to SMP in that you claim it if you aren't eligible to claim SMP . for example if you earn on average less than the lower earning limit which i believe is 90 quid a week you will prob not get smp so you then go to the job centre to claim mat allowance instead. I am borderline £90 a week so i just got to wait and see if i can claim smp or whether i got to get mat allowance. . I believe it is paid at 90% of your wages or summit along those lines but as to when they pay it i aint got a clue really.

Is this the same as SMP ( statutory maternity pay)? If not I wanna know more!!

If so first 6 weeks are at your normal salary and then the rest upto 39 weeks are about £112 per week.

It's different processing times for different offices but mine was through chester office and they posted my confirmation saying I was going to be getting x amount a week and that I had to sign another form and post it back once I'd actually finished work. The confirmation was dated the 9th October, I finished work on the 13th October so posted the form back and had my first payment in the bank on the 28th October which was my 2 weeks backpayment and my 2nd payment on the 31st - will now be every Friday till July when it runs out.

i aint 100% sure on mat allowance but i think i am gonna have to claim it this time too. I would imagine you start getting paid when you finish work which i know is no earlier than 29 weeks. I have heard stories about back log and payments being delayed but like i say i aint that sure on it all. I got all this to come .
