Hi. I had an appt for a smear when i was pg and i cancelled it as was worried. I waited until a few months after i gave birth. The Drs said that i could have had one whilst pg as it was perfectly safe! I didn't want it!! lol! No way - it scared me loads. It's very confusing as some say no don't have it, and other Drs say it's safe..............dunno. Personally, i'd wait, but it's up to you. Have you asked your midwife and Drs? x -

I had an abnormal result but got pregnant with DS before the re-test was due. I was told I'd have to wait a year for a re-test after having him but was pregnant 7 months later. Will ask again this time though, incase the guidelines have changed.

I don't think it is routine to do smears while pregnant but I had AWFUL thrush whil pregnant both times and had swabs done, so if there is cause for concern then they will do something about it.

No they will not do a smear during pregnancy as i was due for one then fell pregnant and so i asked my midwife and she said no they will not perform one on a pregnant lady. You have to wait 3 months after the birth of your baby before they will carry one out.

Hi all, I'm presuming for obvious reasons that you cannot have a routine smear when pregnant? Does anyone know how soon after giving birth its ok to have one?
Hi , I had a smear done and then found out 4 days later I was pregnant. Baby now overdue but asked and they said it wouldn't have done any harm at that early stage. Tx
