Hi there - I also had a low lyer with my last pg and like you had my heart set on hb. Placenta hadn't moved enough at 32 wk scan but had by 36 wks so hb was off then on! Had Cameron at home at 40+4 - no problems! Hope all works out for you - there is nothing you can do to change things so try and enjoy the next weeks rather than worry - easier said than done I know! Good luck hun and I'll keep my fingers crossed you get your hb!

Hi. I had a low lying placenta. There isn't anything you can do to move it. It will do it on it's own if it is going to! MIne didn't. Everyone kept telling me that it would move - went to hospital - no change - next scan, no change. Really worried at 38 weeks as wanted a waterbirth. I wasn't allowed to have one as placenta had not moved. I just about managed to give birth naturally. Placenta was right near entrance, but not over it. I had to have my baby in the big hospital incase of complications. I did hemorrhage but was fine as they put me on a drip afterwards. The birth went well. Is yours lying across entrance? They took a scan photo of mine. Can see baby's head and placenta - lol! That was a while ago though - dd is 3 now! lol! There is still a chance that yours could move, but if you're 36 weeks, chances are it won't. (so they say..) Good luck! xxx

I had one at 20 weeks and it was still there at my 34 week scan. They said I could either book straight in for a C-sect at 39 weeks or come back at 37 weeks to see if it had moved. When I went back at 37 weeks it had totally moved out the way so now I'm going to do it naturally. You're right there's absolutely nothing you can do about it, it's just a waiting game but they just about always move out the way. As the uterus stretches it drags the placenta (which is fixed to the uterus wall) further up and out the way. Just try not to think about it too much as it's out of your hands...

    Hi,

I also have a Low Lying Placenta and know exactly how you feel, I was told this at the 20 week scan and despite being told not to worry, it's natural that you will - I am.

I don't have my heart set on a home birth but I hate the idea of a C section.  I am 26 weeks now with my first baby and hoping for a natural birth, so really hope that at the 32 week scan I might get some good news, but can't help worrying about every twinge I feel until then, as worrying it wil develop into Placenta Praevia.

I hope you get the home birth you want but as people keep saying to me, a healthy baby and a healthy safe you is much more important so we must trust the consultants opinion on this one!

Let us know what happens x

I had a scan at 32 weeks to check my placenta had moved up and it had.  It didn't really matter as I am having a section in 2 weeks.  Most placentas move up so there is nothing to worry about.

I had this in my last pregnancy & it moved up itself, it is quite common so I wouldn't worry about it as they usually move themselves xx

At my 12wk scan i was told i had low lying placenta but they said its far too early to make any decisions, my 20wk scan is coming up and again it will be looked at, i was told if its still low lying i will be scanned again and then at 36-38wk ill have an internal scan with camera inserted to determine exact position of placenta

One midwife told me they can move but another midwife said they dont move as are attached and it just depends which way it grows-further down blocking plug or up away from plug

Not sure ive really helped you just blurted out what i know!!! Obviously you're much further on and hope all goes well and the decision is what you want.
