I also had an epesiotomy 1st time... and was healed up and having sex after 6 weeks. So if things are not back to normal in a couple of months it is probably worth getting it looked at again.

hi i had discomfort from my stitches for at least 3 1/2 - 4 mths after having dd, but this was from a second degree tear.

dont worry tho, it may seem hard to imagine but one day u'll be goin about ur normal business when u'll realise its been a day or so since u had any pain

i was struggling with mine for ages as it got infected and was extremely sore for weeks!!! i found that having warm baths helped using baby was as its alot more delicate than normal soap and by lying on bed naked waist down with the fan blasting between my legs (sorry tmi) also lavender or tea tree oil can help heal quicker

i had an episotomy and i had some extra skin which grew over the scar and wouldn't heal properly and kept bleeding every time i wiped after weeing (Sorry TMI) ended up having to have it burnt off! lovely! I'd give it a couple more weeks and if it's still sore or bleeding go and have it checked, don't leave it 12 painfull weeks like i did! Good luck!

It took me about 5 weeks to heal with my tears and stitches. I would give it a few more weeks as long as it is nice and clean then you may just be healing a bit slower.

We all heal a different rates some  slower than others.

You will be having your post natal chech soon, and even though you may be embaressed about the doc having a look, I would insist you get yourself looked at then. I would imagine by 6 weeks just for one 1st degree tear it chould all be healed.

How long can it take for a tear to heal?

I had my baby 4 weeks ago and only had a firts degree tear, which wasn't stitched. It never caused me any physical discomfort whatsoever (no pain or anything), but when I look at it or touch it I can tell it's still not healed.

My MV took a look at it last week and she said it's healing, but slowly. For me it's the same all the time...

What do you think? Should I seek for a second opinion or just trust my MV and wait?

How long did the healing take for you or people you know?
