Hi all.  I have a rememberance tattoo that I need to add to because someone else has passed on, but I need to find out if I can have tattoos done while pregnant, or do I have to wait until after - I am planning on breastfeeding also, so if I have to wait until after I give birth, am I allowed to get them done whilst breastfeeding, or does it mean I'll have to wait until I've finished with all that too?

Anyone know?

My husband is a tattooist and he says when you have a tattoo your blood pressure increases which is obviously not a gd thing when you're pregnant also you have the ink going into your blood stream. I've been waiting to have one of mine finished, only 3 wks till due date now and getting my sons name tattooed on me.

dont worry bout it hun, i got a BFP about 5 days after getting my last tattoo, told the midwife at booking and she said not to worry.

it's completely different getting a tattoo when you know your pregnant than what it is to when you dont know! same as drinking and smoking, hun :D

Try not to worry too much hun.  Lots of us do things we shouldn't before we find out we're pregnant  & baby is okay.  If you're concerned ask  your GP but sure everything will be fine.

Damn, oh well, looks like I'll be waiting a while then to get mine added to, I'll have to just store my design away until I've finished breastfeeding.  Well it's better to be safe than sorry I guess, to be honest I had a suspicion that might be the case, hence why I was asking, so thanks ladies at least I know to put that one on hold.

I read that the chance of infection, and the increased blood flow, mean it's safer to wait until after the birth...shame as I also need one of my tattoos adding to x

Unfortunately not mine - it's the shape of the two I want done.

I have three butterflies on my lower back. The 1st one was done when my Great Great Aunt died, and the other 2 on the first anniversary of her death.
