Mothers and their supporters have come together to raise awareness of the withdrawal of funding from the Baby Cafe and Mum to Mum Breastfeeding Support in Northampton, and collate plans with the aim of saving them.
With your help and support we hope to keep the Baby Cafe open and Mum to Mum Breastfeeding Support running to help even more mothers and their babies to breastfeed.
Northampton's Baby Cafe opened in 2004 and since then 1600 mothers and their babies have been helped and supported to breastfeed.
As things stand at the moment the Northampton Baby cafe will close on the 30th March. The Mum to Mum Breastfeeding Support Project is a pilot project and is due to end on the 30th April.
The PCT are not planning to continue funding these schemes, and are looking for new ideas to support services for the year 2012/2013 and as any new contract has to go through a lengthy procurement process it is looking very unlikely that anything will be commissioned in time to prevent the closure of the Northampton Baby Cafe and the ending of the Mum to Mum Breastfeeding Support project.
If people are minded to complain to their MP, the press, the PCT the Council etc then they can cover the closure of both services.
The crucial point for people to make is that at the moment the PCT have not commissioned any breastfeeding support services for the coming year.
If you do write any letters please feel free to put copies onto the campaign group (in docs. at the top of the page) so that other people can see them and use them as well.
We collect *short* testimonials about why the Baby Cafe and Mum to Mum support is invaluable. We can present them to the powers that be, possibly with a petition too. Please send to babycafe@lemonpie.ukfsn.org
Does anyone have any comments or suggestions?

Thank you so much for your support.
