Aahhhhh....... It's gorgeous! I think the pronunciation "El-a-dee" rolls off the tongue easier than "El-o-dee".

Thanks for your opinion it's funny coz that's the other name we have been thinking about although maybe spelt Elyssa. And I had thought that at least people wouldn't pronounce that wrong but just goes to show there must be lots of names that get pronounced wrong.

I like Elodie - I picture a pretty little girl when I hear it. The El-a-die and El-o-die are quite similar when you say it as if you are talking to her etc that hopefully she won't have any problems! I know what you mean though, our daughter is called Elissa (like Melissa but without the 'M') but all people ever call her is Elicia - never ever considered people wouldn't have trouble with it!!

The other name which it may be miss heard for is Melody, there is also a computer game with a similar name. I quite like it, but don't love it.

Hi, I really like Elodie and would pronounce it El-o-dee'. I like it because its not common but also not weird and doesn't sound made up. I know what you mean about correcting people though. I love Isla if this little bubba is a girl but am worried she'll be called 'is-la' all the time!! Good luck x

My husband said years ago if we ever had a girl he wanted to call her Elodie. After two boys we have discovered we are having a girl and both really like the name, however I find myself pronouncing Elodie as 'el a dee' but am worried it should be pronounced 'el o dee'. Don't wanna give her a name she constantly has to explain to people. What are your thoughts?
