We spend ages choosing our lo's names, and I guess our parents did the same for us. There are traditional, unusual, even (IMHO)wacky, with sometimes unconventional spellings. So do you like your name or is it a burden?

I like my name, Charlotte. Although I have many nicknames depending on who it is, for example my dad calls me lots or lottie, old school friends call me charly or chaz and my o.h calls me shar.. i dont have a preference but I introduce myself as Charlotte, I'd hate having a name I have to correct spelling or pronunciation.. x

My parents couldn't agree on a name for me, my mom wanted Brogan and my dad wanted Layla. My mom was given pethidine too late in her labour and was still under the influence for a while after. Left on her own with me while my dad went to fetch more things from home, she heard 'Lucky Stars' by Dean Friedman on the radio with the first line "Have you seen Lisa?" and that's how I got my name! It's ok I suppose if a bit common among 30 something women. My dh hates his name. It's Kevin.

im Louise and i would say i like my name, couldnt imagen myself as anything else although at school i was 1 of 4 Louise's in the class and did get a nick name of toilet! (from Lou which everyone calls me) and work collegues find it amusing to say Lou im going to the Loo, as if thats not old. lol. i wanted a unique name for my dd who is now 17 months so chose Katelyn, since then i have known of 4 other caitlin's all spelt differently, and different from my Katelyn. but the poor this has now got to spell her name for the rest of her life! trying to find another girls name thats not popular is proving very difficult

I'm a Sarah Jane & have always really liked my name, I've never been Girly though so kind of dismissed the whole 'princess' meaning thing! I'm a bit of a Tom boy but gave my dd a really 'girly' name which surprised me to be honest, both of my kids names are in the top 20, my name was top 5 in 1983 so I hope they like their names, but they can always change them later in life xx

My name is Ruth, Ive hated it with a passion for the whole of my life, it got so bad I even invented middle names that I liked and got my friends to call me that instead.

And my mother wonders why I dont take any notice of her suggestions for baby names haha.

There are names around now that I think are chavvy - not going to say in case offend anyone. But I do wonder what were the chav names when we were born, that our parents thought 'they've called their baby what????' And are now ordinary names.

I'm neutral on Nicola -it's fine, but a bit boring. When I was discussing names for my first child I asked my parents how they settled on Nicola, and it turned out that neither of them really liked it, it was just the nearest they came to agreeing on a name, so that's quite rubbish! I was one of 3 Nicola's in my class, and one of 6 at my saturday job in a smallish shop, but since I've grown up and mix with people of different ages more, I only meet the occassional one.

My name is Tracy! I think it's probably the worst name EVER! My mum was going to call me Heidi or Hazel. I wouldn't have minded Heidi. My own dad still spells my name with a 'e' and I'm in my 30's!! There were loads of Tracey's at my schools. I was the only Tracy but still don't like it. I wanted to change my name to Star but my mum always made me feel guilty, so I didn't. I have tried to pick pretty/ unusual names for my daughters. And although I love their names, it wouldn't bother me if they changed them when they were older. Can't think of a name for bump number 3 though! Lol.
