a yr or so ago eastenders did a big storyline bout keith miller not bein able to read - and he was learning from his grandaughters baby books, and he was in it a few weeks ago reading up gen knowlege from encyclopedias in the pub! dont think he would av learnt to be that good that quick considering they didn't show him ever pick up a book!

Just watching todays hollyoaks and frankie was ringing jacks mobile and it said it was on silent but it was ringing

kate - the american programmes have been doing that for years - all phone numbers used in a film or on television have 555 on them. I suppose it's cos they have that many more phone numbers than we do.

One of the main reasons the prefix exists is to avoid accidentally using real phone numbers in movies and television programs because viewers frequently call the numbers used. An example of this situation is with the 2003 film Bruce Almighty. in all soaps everyone is always in the pubs drinkin, for one thing how can they all afford it an for another how come they're not all fallin about drunk all the time?
and in hollyoaks has anyone else noticed that sometimes u dont see some characters for weeks on end then they just appear again an no one asks them where they been?

something that really bugs me with eastenders is tanya! shes got 3 kids, one being a really young baby but you always see her out and about with no kids, working in booty, in the pub, cafe, going to see jack... they are never with her lol and even when shes in the house oscar always seems to be in bed! it winds me up that they all buy tea and coffee from the cafe, dont any of them own a kettle? it most cost them all a fortune!

In eastenders, it really bugs me that no-one has a washing machine!!! they all use the laundrette. They have some nice furniture, cookers & dishwashers but not one person has a washing machine, why not???
Have to say continuity is something that really bugs me. Friends have loads with things moved, vanished or clothing changed in the middle of a scene.

In hollyoaks, steph got hers and max's joint credit cards in the post with mr max cunningham on his and mrs steph cunningham on hers. well you cant open a joint account in your married name before your married as you have to provied your marriage cert to do so.

I agree with the phones ringing . . . I noticed once on Corrie when someones phone rang, it was that boring Nokia ringtone? The phone was only a bloody Motorola!!!! x

ok did anyone notice last night in eastenders at the start,when they confronted roxy at the front door,and she walked off and peggy shouted "Foxy" ?!!!!! my dp had to rewind it and she does say foxy instead of roxy!!!!!

i know it's not a mistake exactly, or only in the soaps, but one thing bugs me when i'm watching anything American and that is that all phone numbers begin with 555 it doesn't matter where in they country they live! or what state or whatever, it's always 555!

In ee last night when Sean was having ago a Billy then the baby cried and they all looked at the moniter,well the moniter wasnt even on,even my dh picked that one up.

My biggest bug bear in soaps is when they need to ring someone. Everbody seems to know everyones numbers off by heart, including hospital numbers and insurance numbers lol!

When i was renewing my passport i wnated it in my married name ( wedding was a month away), i was allowed to get it done as long as i provided a form which the registrar signed. The new passport became valid from the date of marriage, but i received it beforehand. may be the same thing here.
