Would it be possible for you to have a word with her? Maybe offer to pay for someone to move her furniture & things like that.

I honestly can't see us ever getting offered anywhere.

We'll just have to have a good win on the lottery & then we can buy a huge house where ever we like    If only ....... but i shall keep on dreaming lol.

Best of luck to you hun.

Heaven - im in west london, hillingdon borough.

I think that people who are living in properties that are to big for them should be given say 2 years to bid/find another property of their own accord and if they dont they should be forced to accept any property the council offer them. I even spoke to my MP about the situation and he just said that these people had had their homes for years in many cases etc etc and they cant force them to move. It should be made part of the tenancy agreement in my opinion......The old woman opposite me should be forced to swap wioth me lol....she'd still have a garden (in fact we have a small front as well as a back garden) and would be in the same street so she wouldnt be moving away from friends, the area etc. And she would be able to sleep in a bedroom again and have full access to a bathroom rather than just using the downstairs of her house.....

Onslowette - Do you live in London?

Don't get me started on people living in bigger houses than they need. A great example is the street where i grew up & my mum still lives. All 4 bedroom houses & most of them are occupied by 2-4 people. My own mum is still in the 4 bedroom house with herself & my 20 y/o brother. I asked if she's swap with me, my place is only a 5 min walk from hers. She wouldn't because the layout here isn't nice. A couple a few doors down are the only ones living there. They use 1 double bedroom for themselves, the other double room isn't used & have converted the 2 single rooms into................... walk in wardrobes for him & her

I see so many 1-2 bedrooms on locata that all these people would be ideal for. The council don't have to make them do it but over a course of say 2 years surely you'd see at least a few 1-2 bedroom properties they'd like. I know people have lived their for years & years but its silly people being crammed in small properties whilst the older generation have 2-3 bedrooms spare.

I hope you get a bigger place soon.

What really annoys me is there is a elderly lady who lives opposite who has a 2 bed house. She cant get up the stairs so lives purely downstairs!!! And theres us opposite all crammed into 1 bed and with a kitchen to small to even have a fride in it! Our fridge/freezer is in the corner of the living room. I understand the old lady has lived there for years etc but she refuses to move!!

The next street down there are 2 elderly sisters who live next door to each other and they each have a 3 bed property, with seperate living room and dining room downstairs. Next to them is a man who again is in a 3 bed, his wife and kids left him and left the UK yet he still has a 3 bed grrrrrrr. If they forced people like this to move it would sort out the problem!!!

    We're on Locata & we're in a band C too.

We're already in a 3 bedroom (5 person property) & only qualify for another 3 bedroom as my DD is not old enough. If she was older we'd qualify for a 4 bedroom.

The thing is we can only bid on 3 bedroom properties but as we're a 6 person household we can't bid on all 3 bedroom properties as a lot of them only go up to 5 people.

Our H/A are rubbish & i've only ever seen 1-2 bedroom properties with them & my borough H&F rarely have 3 bedroom properties either. I did bid on 2 properties with another H/A but even before it closed it said we weren't a priority.

Our place (house conversion) is half in the basement & half street level. Its freezing cold in this house & really doesn't do my sons asthma any good at all. I just don't see us ever getting out of here being in band C & the fact theres rarely any properties to bid on.

Locata also have a new part to there website "West London Mutual Exchange", which you can register for an exchange. We're in a 1 bed flat and DS is 2 and a half!!! And are desperate to move too as you can imagine....and we are only a band C with the council so god knows if/when we will get a move!

Good luck to everyone looking for a transfer/exchange xx
