When I bought a ds from Game I was told you get a 2yr guarantee, the 1st year with the retailer and the 2nd year with nintendo themselves. Maybe it's changed now though, let us know how you get on pls

we sent our sons DS to nintendo to be repaired after he broke the top screen........... they classed it as a major repair and they replaced the whole top half of the DS rather than the screen and it was £50 and it came with a warranty for 12 mths.............. there are only two prices for repairs from Nintendo..................... minor is £30 Major is £50...........

    Nintendo Service Centre

thats the ninty customer service info...give them a call and see if they can help...if they repair it you should get some guarantee with it

the DS is region free for games...but not for all parts...the japanese one for example have a different electric current so you need a step down adapter to charge them

from what you said it sounds like you have a power cell problem...that would need to be fixed with uk parts...we know of one guy who ordered a new screen thru ebay and it wouldnt work as it was a japanese part...so i would recommend trying nintendo themselves 1st...but phone as its quicker than email
