AHHHHHHHHHHHH !
I am 31 and should be able to buy a bottle ot wine, I clearly look my age,
BLOODY LABOUR!

I work in BHS and we have been trained to ask for id to anyone who may not be 21 even though the legal age is 18, it is now think 21, we can get personal fines for serving under aged, we even have to ask for id when serving chocolate liquers. I always get asked for id im 27 in feb and although it is embarrasing i just take it as a compliment as i musnt look old lol x I went out with the girls last week and the first bar we went to i got asked and i was the oldest lol x

here another one ...was also in the paper
Claire Birchell, 25, was told she could not buy the Jack Daniel's barbecue sauce which has an alcohol content of 2 per cent.
Staff at the store in in Flitwick, near Bedford also refused to sell the bottle to her brother-in-law, Philip Dover, 27, who did have ID, because they believed he would just give the bottle to Miss Birchell.
She was visiting her parents in Flitwick at the time and wanted to buy the sauce because shops near her home in Liverpool didn't stock it.
Mr Dover said: 'We just could not believe it. It's not as if we were going to go and sit down the park drinking it.
"Claire lives in Liverpool and she can't buy the sauce up there so she was really disappointed she couldn't get it in Flitwick. It just seems crazy over a sauce."
A spokesman for Tesco said "Our staff are incredibly vigilant when it comes to the sale of alcohol.
"However in this case it appears that there has been an error of judgement. We apologise for any upset caused."
Last month Tesco stopped selling alcohol to parents with their children in case they passed it on to the youngsters.
The supermarket chain defended the policy, saying it wanted staff to "err on the side of caution."

was in a newspaper the other week someone in tesco got asked and she was in her 40's
our SPAR is 25 yrs for alcahol ...how do you tell the difference these days some 15 yrs old look older
11/10/08 21:29
The thing is if you are not sure you have to ask as it is a personal fine of up to £5000 plus could be 6 mths in prison and plus you would probably get the sack so would take it as a compliment and its true once you have asked you can't then serve till you have proof. x

23Francine it wouldn't hasppen to be a new Morrison's in Whitefield would it???
11/10/08 21:05
Same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago in somerfield, I really didn't expect at 31 you had to carry ID
. Sent Hubbie in and got the same response as you did, I went to Tescos and didn't get a free chicken
I was completly fuming! The assistant said I should be flattered, I fancied knocking her head of(okay bit extreme)! But I like being by age, and would hate to be in my teens again!

Lol, I know exactly how you feel!! I'm 32 and still get asked for id! I've been told I look 20!!!
When I was 26 I got asked id for a lottery ticket, apparently I didn't look 16. Lmao. xx

Hey that happened to me in Morrisons the other day, I was buying red wine & chicken. I'm 26. He refused to serve me, I was really annoyed, so sent df one when I got home. He went to the same counter % asked for my stuff, which was at the side of check out (df is 2
so the cashier refused to serve df too, saying he was clearly buying it for the underage girl......even though he didn't think df was underage. Worse still they wouldn't serve df alcohol for 24 hours in case he was buying for me. DF called manager who apologised but said once a cashier had asked for id there was nothing that could be done without id. So df had to go back on to the supermarket and show MY passport beofre they'd serve him!! What a joke - it took 3 trips to the supermarket!! DF did complain so they gave us our chicken free, which was £6.oo but it was so frustrating. Flaterring yes, but when they wont actually allow you to buy it it's mot so great anymore!!!11/10/08 19:07
