We were advised to wait 3 weeks after my c-section, I think we waited 2. Though it was a while before I felt healed enough to be back to how it was before baby.

Wow you were lucky. I looked like a patchwork quilt down below for ages. I was sewn up really well though, but with an epesiotomy and a 3rd degree tear I thought I did well at 6 weeks.

Ended up with tears second time too.... due to her lightning speed arrival!

Kath - no stitches, just a tear which I was lucky, stopped hurting within 3 days of giving birth!

I thought about the injection but I would end up trolling the kids with me every time, and that would be a pain. As for the spotting, I know my friend has depo (didn't know til last month) and she still has a normal period and has done for 13 months.

Oh dear Clare..... this birth control stuff is crap!

I had the Mirena Coil fitted about 4 months ago, the spotting is a pain as I never know when it will start, and goes on for a week, sometimes more, but it is literally a few drops so a panty liner is all it takes.

It does affect our sex life as I am not really in the mood when I am spotting as I get awful cramps and it makes me feel a bit poo. I manage the pain ok, just on some days it makes me feel sick too, so if I have not eaten much I end up feeking a bit crap.

You go clairlancaster!!!! I had an epesiotomy, and I waited 6 weeks 1st time because it took that long to stop bleeding and I didn't fancy doing the deed with that still happeneing.

I waited 5 weeks 2nd time around as I healed much better and I had an app with doc the week after so I wanted to make sure all was 'working' and felt fine.

It takes some women a matter of 2 weeks to heal, but it can also take some women a few months depending on the locia and the degree of tearing.

There used to be advise given that said wait 6 weeks and most m/w will still give this info to cover themselves when it comes to infections.

make sure you use condoms so you don't get pregnant or get a nast infection down below. My friend had infected stitches and I was extra careful.

It used to be 6 weeks, but new research has shown that we heal much faster. Just be careful and use condoms to reduce the risk of infection.
